I also like the Audioquest Skys over any other cables I have used (and this is many) in my system. They also have the Niagara and Cheetah that are solid silver. Used prices go around Sky 1-1.5K, Niagara around 700.00, and Cheetahs for less than 500.00.

As much as I'd like to get a pair of Sky, they are way beyond what I can realistically spend on a pair of interconnects. I do not believe my components are "high end" enough to warrant the use of such expensive interconnects anyway. For $2.5k, I'd rather get a nicer source or electrostatic amp.

dura, you suggested the Kimber Silver Streak which uses copper for ground return vs silver for the KCAG. I wonder what effects that has on the sound...

Will the DBS packs ever run out of battery?

Try the Cheetahs used. They are smoother, and less hard sounding cable and allround better than the silver streak or KCAG. If you do go get the Kimbers the KCAG is step above the SS. The Kimbers are a faster, leaner sounding cable than the AQ silver offerings. I have had differeent prs of AQ cables for years and never had the batteries die. If they do they are only a few bucks at radio shack.

MAC AgQ or the less expensive MAC Silver Braided. Best silver ICs I've heard for the money.

I've had the MAC as well. And I agree that for the price it's excellent wire!

edit: only top end use cotton though...

No offense, but I wouldn't get caught up in cotton as a dielectric. The finest ICs in the world (such as Tara Labs, Audioquest, etc.) use teflon air tubes instead of cotton in their high end pieces. Although I will agree that cotton does do a decent job.

is that the one with two cotton wire spiral around a foam teflon core?

By the way, have you tried using VH cotton silver in quad braid (square braid) configuration? if so, how was it?

Thanks

I got the cables yesterday. They are demo cables properly pre-burned in, I checked this from the dealer beforehand. I used em between Electrocompaniet ECD1 dac and ECI-3 integrated. Speakers are Acapella Fidelio.

I noticed a serious synergy malfunction. Sibilance, music lacked body and impact, soundstage was 3-dimensional and recorded layers came through exceptionally well. Not for my system. Copper DIY cables used as reference.

That's the one though I sued my own center core of choice making for an even more flexible cable.

I never braid cables anymore so no.
