the Cornwalls aren't much less efficient, (102db)
and have lower bass extension.

Klipsch all the way. Those LaScalas are the speaker I lust over for my Bottlehead SeX kit which I'm about to build. Instead, think I'll pocket a couple grand and build some Fostex fullrange speakers. They are reputed to sound excellent for the (little) money.

FWIW,

I actually own the hornshoppe horns (and 'cube') and use a pair of 7w 300B monoblocks...sound is very good in my medium-sized room. If you have a large room, I have heard the La Scalas with my amps and they are very nice...I don't have the space for them...the horn/cube combo is 'faster' than the LaScalas...the LaScalas have more base, but the horn tweeter can be tiring to me...YMMV
