500+ Member: Never looks a gift amp in the jackhole.
Klipschorns are very suitable for low power amps. Thats really were the design originated, at a time when low power tube amps were all that could be had. 104db @1 watt sensitivity and great bass to 35 hz.
Not cheap though, and a bit hard to find.
Well, single drivers in general are bass-shy. They are marvelous in the mid and high range but lose that magic down low. The Klipsch do not however. There is a place in Charlotte called serioushifi ( search audiogon for that name) they somewhat specialize in used Klipsch gear and older stereo equipment.

He's a good guy, very helpful. I built a pair of these and they sound wonderful. They image really, really well. Bass is good and with a simple compensation circuit to suit my amp, they aren't harsh. All things considered they are almost as good as my quad ESL 57s. And that is really saying something.
I built mine and have played them with my EL84 amp, a DIY pass aleph, a modded panasonic digital amp, airtight amp, a 45 based SET and also 6A3 SET amp too. All sounded great. and with the last 2 SET amps I didn;t need the compensation circuit.
If you have access to woodworking equipment, or a woodworker (say a local hobbyist) this would be a reasonably easy project.
I recently acquired my first SET amp, EL84 based, and tried it out on the modded Fishers [sealed cabinets!] my best friend gave me. I was not too optimistic, but they had more than enough power. Sounds great. 2A3's may be another matter altogether...maybe try them out first on any cheap, ported speaker and go from there.

TEAM Mac//TEAM STAX//TEAM MUSTAPHA//TEAM HORRI-FI//TEAM TOO MANY TEAMS
All the suggestions have me really interested now.
The Klipshorns are extremely appealing and seem to have everything I'm looking for except the high price tag.
I checked out the hornshoppe horns and they might be something I look in to as well.
Any opinions on Omega?

Hmm... so could a SET effectively power the La Scalas? They might actually be more up my alley than Klipschorns. At 105db are these some of the most efficient out there?
