Recabling 'phones with HQ RCA cable???

Is this possible??? For example, if i'll take 10ft. Monster cable RCA-RCA, then cut off the RCA jacks and make a new cable for um.. HD 600?? Tell me what you think..
Can speakers' cables be used for 'phones??
