Hi guys! Now that I'm satisfied with my headphone setup, I'd like to do a bit of work on my speaker system. I currently have an old Kenwood receiver which can run stereo A/B speakers, as well as two rear speakers' worth of virtual surround. I have no plans to upgrade the receiver, as there is no need. It does what it should, and it does it well.
Running off of this are a pair of Mission 70 bookshelf speakers as the mains. I like these speakers. However, off the rear are a horrible horrible pair of Koss speakers that came with a minisystem. I need to either replace these, or get a pair to replace the Missions, which will take rear duty.
I've seen two deals on used speakers that caught my eye; One was a pair of the JBL Northridge N26 bookshelf speakers for $40, and the other was a pair of Mission 700 bookshelf speakers for $50. Reviews on both are glowing. The 700s seem to be bigger, better versions of the Mission 70, and the JBL N26 seems to be small, but surprisingly powerful for its size.
It seems that either way I go, I will get a great deal. However, does Head-Fi have any knowledge on these speakers that could help me out? I'd love to hear your advice on this matter. I know that I'd do best to get both, but my poor student's wallet just doesn't want to take that
Thanks a bundle!
