Which LOD to get for around 150?
I have 150 to spend from Christmas. I am currently using Super Fi. 5 v2 from Ultimate Ears. I have a LOD cable but it is a cheap one and doesn't bend farther than 45 degrees easily. I want a cable that I can use with my amp with my ipod nano and touch
Here is what I have
Sources: 1G iPod Touch/4G iPod Nano
Headphone: Super Fi. 5 v2 (not pro)
Amp: iBasso T4
I was going to get this LOD:
ALO Audio
EDIT: I think this one might be better:
http://www.aloaudio.com/store/index....roducts_id=133
But I don't know if it is the best that I could do. And if necessary, I can go over 150, but it HAS to be short like the one posted so I can use it with my amp.
Thanks in advance

Why would you want to spend that much on a LOD?

They don't. Just get something mechanically reliable.

All you need to spend is around £17.00 for an excellent quality LOD cable.
All you are doing is throwing good money away

HeadRoom has a decent LOD for about $20. But $150+ would get you very close to a used Sennheiser HD600. That would be a quantum leap in sound quality. It could also get you a used desktop amp or a used Technics SL-1200 turntable. Those would also give you a significant increase in sound quality.

I am planning to get these from ALO, ALO Fidelity iPod Docking Station Zebra Wood and Short Silk RCA to RCA cable. Wonder it will be a overkill or it is just another piece of furniture....

Unless it is apple universal dock, I wouldn't pay more than $15-20 on a line out dock.
Especially not when I could pour that into nicer headphones.

yea, LOD's dont improve sq by 150 dollars worth. at most, i think any cable helps..somewhat or a little bit. what matters most is what kind of headphones/iems ur using and quality of music (flac/320kbps, etc)

Why? You could use that money to buy another pair of headphones.
If you really want to dress up your iPod, do it yourself. All that stuff is cheap. You can have any wire you want cryo treated some place like here or here. There's probably a cryo facility in the big city closest to you, as well. Treatment for a cable might be $2 or $3. Here is a slab of zebra wood going for $5.50. The rest of the stuff isn't expensive, either. Poke around the DIY Forum to find what you like and all the advice you need to make it. Don't expect it to change the sound much, but it will look nice.
Then take the extra money and put it towards the headphones, amp or source you really want. And if DIY interests you, I recommend building an amp, too. Anyone can build an amp and you'll save hundreds on labor.

I am keen to DIY but I am a pure amatuer when it comes to wood working and I have a pair of shaky hands for soldering... Indeed, ALO products is a killer in looks and pricy too. Saving some monies to for it unless someone is keen to help me out. Those DIY parts are not easily found here in Malaysia.
Thanks for the suggestion ...

I am of the party that would spend on a quality piece. I would never break 45 on an LOD but if you spent 75, got any noted SQ increase, got a good mechanically sound piece, and like the way it feels/looks then no you didn't waste your money. Could you have put that 30-40$ into something else, yes, but if you got what you wanted it isn't a waste.
