Good point, for a small LOD cable, it might be better to go with the mini Quad version Mogami Neglex W2893 instead of the standard W2534. The cable should be smaller and more flexible, and it has over twice the flex life of the regular version.

So if you use the two blue wires for L/R and the two clear for ground, what do you do with the "shield"? Solder it to ground, or use it for ground and use two each of the four for L/R? How would YOU do it, for a short interconnect for portable amp/DAP?
Thanks,
Scott

Anyone know if W2893 is the stuff s2-audio uses (warrior05)???

I wouldn't mind getting one of punisher's lods though...they looked tiny. less prone to the LOD plug breaking too.

I have been waiting for a quote from stevenkelby for his jena interconnect - I know he said $70 for a standard jena but i don't know if my request comes out to be cheaper or more expensive.

Default Mogami cable info.

I bought a mogami cable today with the 2534 6mm four conductor wire, and it looks like the two blue wires go to right, the two clear to left and the shield is used for ground. Just thought you would like to know. If you want a piece for an IC send me your postal and I'll see what I can do to send it to you. BTW this cable feels very flexible. Also saw an 18 inch studio interconnect made from some kind of patented 2552 mogami wire, but at $32 it will have to wait till later.
Scott

EDIT: Just tried the fresh IC with mogami 2534 wire and all I can say is WOW! I really never believed that a piece of wire could make that much difference! I wonder if it is the wire, the size, the configuration, or a combination of two or more? I'm definitely hooked on IC making and experimentation.

Silver-tinned copper has been reported to be a bit bright. Analyze your preferences before going that route.

i think with um2s or senn 580/595/600/650 the brightness wouldn't go amiss - with sonySA5000s it would be ohnoes!!!!

Thanks scott - good to hear it made such a difference. Whether it's a real one or a placebo, who cares? If it makes you happy, it's worth it. But warrior05 who uses it thinks it's the best for the price too.

I'm actually getting a punnisher low profile LOD with canare Star quad (not sure mini or not) which seems to be quite similar to the mogami on paper at least.

Either way, between cardas, mogami, canare etc there are plenty of cable options that do not break the bank as badly as jena cryo and more exotic ones.

Default IC Materials

InfiniteSymphony is right about the Mogami wire, use the smaller size for IC's, maybe the bigger stuff will be good for home use. I'm still shopping for some sort of Silver or Silver composite wire to sample. I did move from Rat Shack mini's to Nuetrik(they are actually cheaper than Rat Shack, price wise). I'm still looking for a perty Black Chrome (shiny) mini that looks as good as some of the RCA's you see online.
Good luck,
Scott

I read this kind of information too, which put me off on the Mogami--that is until I tried it. The 2534 works great in my system, very noticably better than Canare. So now I am in the process of replacing all my Canare Star Quad with the Mogami.

PS. In my case, all comparisons were done with home stereo interconnects--both XLR and RCA. Compared to the Mogami (already had a good investment in that), the Canare was "darker" but this was really more of a muddying of the signal. The Canare had good bass, but the Mogami has even more focused bass, more extended highs and generally clearer across the sound spectrum so more detail and separation comes through. I am not saying that the Canare is bad, just that the Mogami is better. And at only $0.80 a foot more expensive its still cost effective. Soon I will compare the Mogami with a DIY Jena interconnect to see if the significantly more expensive Jena brings added benefit, or at least a different sound signature.

Yes, i think people need to remember that probably for very short interconnects mogami vs canare is probably not that different as there are probably other worse limiting factors involved.

Since i currently use a cardas cable, i doubt i will see any decline or improvement with canare other than the form factor.

Hey ldj325, let us know with a post back here, please, before I purchase cryo wire myself, and do you have any experience with solid silver IC's? Do you leave the Mogami in the sheath or maybe braid, and would a braid help any for any paticular freq? I'm trying a braid with the Mogami 2534 now, can u also let us know what kind of mini's u use, please?
Thanks in advance,
Scott
Edit: I also use some Monster Cables, Interlink 400 Mk II mini to L&R TS for Dac to Active monitors. I'm gonna make the same cable in Mogami for comparison soon.
