I am connecting my SB Live! (soon to be upgraded or modded) to my Sharp Class-D amped minisystem with the Radioshack/Koss 'Evolution' (cheap) mini to rca connectors. I am experiencing some bass distortion on files of all sorts, from lossless to wave to mp3. Is this the cable? Or should I replace the source and that's the end of that?
I would like to get some of those zu cables, but I would need both a 1.0 m rca to mini as well as another 0.5 rca to mini (for amplifier). How much would that be together?

Do you also notice a loud hum, when you turn up the volume on the Sharp and the computer plays nothing? If not, have you already tried lowering the output level of the soundcard?

No, there is no low hum. I have lowered the output level of the soundcard, but since it is line-level, shouldn't this not be a problem? However, it is improved slightly.
