Sounds completely bogus. Metal is metal, and unless you're talking about temperature, they're going to sound the same all the time, no matter how much you've used them.

I was kidding
I believe another DIY found a cheap way to burn in a wire, by powering a light bulb or something.

At that price it doesn't take much of a birthrate.
I don't understand the target population. ICs aren't something most people buy all that frequently, so who's going to have need for a dedicated accessory to burn them in?

People who make cables. People who can't wait.
I use a device like this myself. It's an easy test. Burn one set of cables and leave the other one the same. But yeah once all my cables are in place, I just don't use the device anymore.

My advice to you:
- Use your own ears as everybody's hearing and preferences are different.
- Try to audition as much equipment as possible to find your sound.
- Buy used to save money.

Knowing how cables can change over time while still being burnt in, I think a product like this is very valuable.

Metal wires require burn in. But I have also heard that metal wires have burn out. When you reach that critical point, the whole soundstage disappears...

How exactly do cables change over time when being burnt in? Do the wire diameters shrink and close up the soundstage? Do the wires get longer and the frequency response changes? I do not understand how electrons flowing through metal affects the sound over time. Please explain this to me.
