Default Doesn't look like a dedicated mains will work, so next best option is...?

It looks like my quest for a dedicated mains isn't very feasible. My place is rented and on the third floor, so I don't think it's logistically possible.

What is the next best option? Can you wring that last 1% of audiophile crack out of your power supply at the circuit level? In other words, could I isolate the circuit for my bedroom from the rest of the apartment complex (with it's air conditioners, hair dryers, etc.) without tearing the place apart? I know it wouldn't be 100% isolation like a dedicated mains, but any method of reducing interference would be nice.

Try a product like Quietlines, or an isolation transformer, or if you want to spend serious money, one of those PS Audio power station thingies.

purchase equiptment with well thought out power supplies, the better the power supply the better the filtering process. I would stay away from most power filters as they seem to constrict dynamics

Though the PS Audio Power Plant Premier is supposed to be pretty good at leaving the dynamics. We shall see though when our mutual homeboy Girardian gets his.

If it's predecessors are any clue, it's awesome. I have a P500 and love the sound, although it has one problem that kills the deal--it's fan is noisy enough to bleed through the cans in quiet passages.

So, I ordered a Nordost Thor (fanless) which will hopefully improve the noise situation. Even with a product as awesome as the Thor, some people still use a dedicated mains. Every little 1/10th of a percent helps!
