copper & silver IC, HD650, DT880
I'm interested in how copper and silver IC's would sound with HD 650's ans DT 880's.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
I'm running Emu 0404 - Darkvoice 332 --> HD650, DT880
Also, would replacing the source improve the sound more than an IC upgrade between the DV332 and headphones?
Thx!

Copper gives a warmer sound while silver produces a for detailed airy sound.

I agree with fatman711. On the other hand, it's like a blind man asking you to explain the colour blue. The best way is to experience it yourself

What sort of source up-grade did you have in mind?
To me a source has always been the chosen up-grade path. Cables (up-graded) should be done when you are comfortable with the sound of the major components. Transducers - Source - Amplification

Transducers are headphones and speakers.

Have you compared these silver coated copper wires to plain copper or silver wire?

Couldn't agree more. Transducers are the source of the highest amount of distortion that you are listening to, which is very obvious if you think about it, but most people do not acknowledge that. 2nd to the actual transducer itself the source offers the most variety and difference in presentation and flavor.

I have indeed, and have a newer generation variant (copper core silver, not just a couple thousandths (mils) of silver plating). There are various advantages to each, and it is more a matching issue with your equiptment.
For instance, a Moon Blue dragon (I've owned two) can warm up a really cold SS amp (not generalizing about all ss), and silver overcome some warmth of a hot tube amp (again, not generalizing about tubes).
It is really a taste thing - and only you can answer what you will like, when the day comes.
My HD6xx cable history: stock 600, Oehlbach, Moon Blue Dragon, Moon Silver Dragon, stock 650, Moon Blue & Silver Dragon (yes, again), APS v2, APS v3, Enigma Oracle. Listened to Zu mobius, Equinox, Clough, and many, many home brews.
My choices are in the sig.
