Default Cheap speaker setup needed

So my friend's computer speakers are blown out, and he needs to replace them with some cheap speakers, more or less in the price range of sixty dollars. Size is no object, and he's perfectly aware that sixty dollars is not going to buy him an amazing set. Suggestions anyone? Thanks!

1) check your local craigslist
2) get the bottom price for advertised speakers
3) then compare your opportunities

likewise, check several garage sales for old rega, klipsch, sound dynamics, tannoy, jbl, advent, etc. brands...

or better, tell him to get a headphone for $60

Maybe consider a Sonic Impact T-Amp and a pair of 4" wide-range drivers. You guys will have to DIY some kind of enclosures but I think this approach will give much better value than some crappy computer speakers.
