Hey folks, I'm hoping that you can help me with something.
I recently moved into a little efficiency that is outright demanding that I set up some speakers, rather than solely relying on headphones. However, my budget is only up to about $100. I may be able to stretch a little beyond that, but only if it's really necessary.
So, I'm trying to find a speaker setup. I'm obviously not looking for an incredible setup, but just some setup in this price range.
I'm working with a computer as source, running from a xonar dx2 card.
i am in love with the swan M10s right now. They are available from the audio insider for $110+ shipping
also, look at the klipsch promedia
I would avoid the Klispch Promedia like the plague. Horrible little horns.
While I have not heard the Swans, one must consider that those are most definitely the same Hi-Vi (Swan's OEM brand of speaker parts) used in many popular DIY designs. While the sub is likely to be a joke, they should sound very good.
There's also DIY, which offers fantastic value for money. I've been told that the Silver Als - which can be built for $120/pair - sound excellent, and cost less than $100 to build.
They're not bad at all for $75. Even better, you can get them at Best Buy and return them if you're not crazy about them. These have something of a cult following and there are several mods for them. I haven't heard a modded unit, but those who have rave about them.

They are great sounding speakers for that price. I wonder if the Sonic T-amp would do them justice?
