Default Absolute AC Cords back in Stock $50

Just wanted to alert people that these are back in stock again from GTT Audio, Bill just got shipment of 3,500 cords in.

http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.p...6371&demo&3&4&

If you have Headphone amp that has removeable AC cord, here is your cord! I use many of these on components though out my system after trying several much more expensive cords. Don't let the appearance fool you, this AC cord performs.

Please don't make the mistake of dismissing AC cord as unimportant, when you send Sony SACD players to ModWright for upgrades first thing they do is remove the POS fixed AC cord, and replace with IEC socket to accept good aftermarket cord!

Seconded. I've got four of the Absolute Power Cords in various places (the Sony 9000ES already has IEC socket, and showed the biggest improvement with cord replacement). The improvement seems greatest the further up the chain you go...best with CD player/preamp, less with amps. Then again, I've got an Electrocompaniet replacement cord which works very well with the Electrocompaniet amp.

I haven't done a lot of experimentation with other cords, but the Absolute cord does bring some nice improvements at a reasonable cost...can't bring myself to spring for any of the big name (and big dollar) cords yet...and may not need to.

Can't vouch for the Absolute Power Cord's effectiveness (never having tested it), but I've gotta take issue with some of GTT's spiel:

"We put these up against the $2000-$3000 power cords and they win every time. "

"To repeat the above these are the most neutral cords on the market."

Rather broad claims, aren't they?

Well I would never make such claims, although if you check the line of equipment this guy sells it is very highend stuff and I think he knows what great cables should sound like. I'm sure he would make more profit selling you 4 $1000 AC cords vs 4 $50 cords.
I think he is entitled to his opinions/preferences, that doesn't mean everyone will agree with him......I don't think he trying to be dishonest, he is doing audiophiles a great service!

All I can say is they sound great and outperform AC cords costing many times thier price IMO.

I've got to admit I was put off by the hype that surrounded this cord. Particularly if you read audiogon (and to a lesser extent audioasylum), there were too many times that a poster who had never appeared before suddenly popped into a thread with a "Gee this cord is great" post, immediately followed by another "Boy is he right, I got rid of my thousand dollar cord!" type of thing. It actually looked like schills sent in to hype the product. I pretty much wrote it off, as the posts looked suspicious, but wound up buying a used one (I do get curious, and once that happens I want to see what's really going on)...and then I bought several more. Who knows, maybe the posts that bothered me were real? I'll never know. I do know that the Absolute Power Cord works well with the front end equipment I've tried...much better than I had anticipated.

I'm considering buying several more, as I'm curious what these would do to computer perfomance. They have the most impact on my digital front end, and a computer is nothing if not digital...

Stange things to happen when you start playing with power tweaks. With Audioprism quietline filters in place, I got a decent increase in performance in my audio systems (placing a shunt in outlets with noisy appliances). What I was not prepared for was for my refrigerator motor to operate more quietly. This is not subtle. The motor sounds more smooth. Something's happening here that's going beyond audio...but I don't think Audioprism could charge what it does to improve refrigerator performance You just don't see that many sites devoted to refrigerator performance and tweaks

Refridgerator eh... Well there certainly are sites for computer tweaks. I wonder if any of them have tried good power cords... this would indeed be interesting...

Anyways, I'm a bit skeptic about the Absolute power cord... I'd rather (and am) building some cords out of belden cabling and higher grade connectors (comes to the same price of an absolute).

I have one of the Absolute Power Cords $50 and have compared it to the Quail Power Cord $10. I found the Quail just as good if not better. Save $40 and go for a Quail if you can.

I found Quail's website, but couldn't find any pricing or ordering info, just an email quote form. Do they sell to consumers or just wholesale to other companies? Which of the Quail Power Cords do you use?

I have the following cord.

0313.096 8' 14/3 SJT Grey/N.American/Clear .360-.395 15A/125V

Yes, I filled out a form and they emailed me back. Then they sent me some free samples. The regular price is around $10 though. See the post by Jude.

Thinks for the ordering info and the link to Jude's post about the cords. Looks like they are worth a shot. Hard to go wrong for those prices.

I bought some of the quail power cords. I bought the 10' 14/3 that were unterminated on the IEC end. I use them now on my ASL Waves. That way they are the exact length I need, 2 feet and are terminated with a nice wattgate IEC receptacle treated with ProGold.

This is an old thread, but the Absolute Power Cords from GTT still represent a great improvement and value. Connections are effectively welded to avoid micro-arc-ing, employ heavy wire and good connectors. Nice, reliable people to deal with, too. The Audio Asylum link is expired, but GTT Audio is in New Jersey at (908) 850-3092. Just ordered two more; one for my new Audio Valve RKV Mk II and a spare.
