Default Which Yuin is right for me?

Hi all, how are you?
I just recently bought the Samsung YP-P3 portable media player and am looking now for a pair of good earphones. While my MS-1 are great, they are quite inconvenient for listening on the go.

I have heard people swear by Yuin over any of the major and known brands, and from the moment I saw the Yuin earphones I made up my mind to get them over anything else.

I listen mostly to Classical (orchestral, chamber, solo), Jazz (Bebop, West Coast) and Rock (Tool and Dream Theater for instance). I know that there are several Yuin earphones, but I do not know which ones would be the best for my needs. My audio files range from MP3 256 kbps to MP3 320 kpbs, as well as some FLAC files.

I am looking for earphones that will last for a long time, are sturdy, won't break apart and if need be am willing to pay a good price so long they are what I am looking forward to.

I hope you could help me here.
Thanks!

If you will use the Yuin straight out of the DAP go for the OK2. However if you plan on using an amp I would go for the OK1.

Bear in mind that these earbuds do allow some noise from the outside to reach you. To me this is good because it allows me to hear the phone ringing while at the office, however they would not be my first choice for airplane/train traveling.

IMO the Yuin's earbuds or their clip-on sound fantastic and will bring a big smile to your face. Good luck.

I have only tried the PK1 and the PK3, and people telling me I need amp for PK1, I found it really good straight out of my iPhone.

Anyway, out of PK1 and PK3, I would recommend PK1.

Thank you both for your suggestions! I really appreciate them.
I am most likely going to get a FIO mini amp, I am leaning towards the less expensive one. But, for the most part, I think I will have the earphones playing straight through the DAP, since it is more convenient to transport it around. I might later on add an iBasso amp, but that will be around early Fall, since I need to save money again, as I shelled out good money on the P3.

Plus, I rather want a good pair of earphones now. Would the OK 2 or PK2 sound significantly better with an amp? Looking at the price and this being an introduction to the Yuin series, I think I will go with the the 2 series, now wether OK or PK is the question. Are the comparisons between the two available? I googled and I could not find a direct comparison.

Thank you.

You do not need an amp w/ an OK2. It has been a year since I listened to the PK2 so I will not comment.

I would suggest you buy one or the other, go for the best quality you can afford. Otherwise you end w/ two middle of the road components instead of one really good one.

So either get the OK2 w/ no amp or the OK1 w/ a nice amp.

OK1 is a superb bud. Clear, clean with excellent detail. However, as you don't seem too keen on amping (at least, not all the time), I'd second mrarroyo's rec for OK2 (tho note I haven't heard the 2 but given the quality of OK1, I'd be surprised if it wasn't very good indeed.) OK1 really needs to be driven to sound its best.

If you do go for the FiiO, I'd suggest E5 -simply more versatile.

If I were to get an OK2 and later on would add a nice amp, would the sound improve significantly, or mediocre at best? Would a Fiio E5 improve the sound of the OK2 somewhat, or should I just wait a bit, get an OK2 and later on add an amp? Or should I just purchase the OK1 and then get a nice amp?

The thing is I walk alot and do go to the library (university) for studying, and carrying amp would be a hassle. I could use it at home, but then again, I do have those nice speakers and the MS-1 does sound much better on my home rig. Ah, I think the OK2 is what I need.

Thank you again, everyone.

Well, carrying an E5 for the OK1 isn't exactly a hassle - it's tiny, the size of a 2G Shuffle. But choosing OK2 won't be at all a bad move, I'm sure. Good luck & let us know what you think of them

I have the PK1 and PK2.. They are both great, the PK2 doesn't need an amp, the PK1 sounds great without, but really benifits from one.. The Pk1 has a better structured bass and is very well balanced.. So is the PK2, but slightly less detail and lighter in bass..

This is how I hear it anyway

The pk3 is supposed to be great as well and rather cheap but I haven't heard myself..

Id most defiantely get the pk3, portable players struggle to drive the pk1, it definately needs alot of power. The pk3 on a portable player sounds alot more full and vibrant to me than ok2/pk2/pk1/ok1.

I was just at canjam and was able to try them all out and i listen using a pk3 at school almot every day. Its definately a great bud

I think that no matter what Yuin you can buy, in some way or another you cannot be dissatisfied. Personally, I hated the look of the earbuds in general, until I tested one Yuin (the first one I bought was the PK3 -- bingo!). The thing ended in me trying now to collect each and every model, and I have almost every Yuin less the OK2. I hear all my music now With the Yuins.

Samsung YP-P3 looks really like B&O6, I nearly want to get one. Finally I bought ipod instead.
