what to convert my music to for zune?
Well all my music is in ALAC and wondering what I have to convert it to for the zune. I love my lossless files and would really like to keep them that way.

You also have an iPod 120GB, correct? I suspect you're going to have a lot of issues, going forward. The Zune won't play ALAC, and the iPod won't play WMA lossless (which is the lossless format for the Zune). As for a converter, I don't use either format so I don't know. Sorry!
There's also going to be the media player issue - you'll have to run both iTunes and WMP, to sync either player. If you have a large lossless collection, you'll have to double your efforts to keep the players up-to-date.
I give you credit for trying to use these players in harmony, but I think it's going to be an uphill battle.

Just as an FYI, when I try to load WMA Lossless onto my Zune80 software, latest version, down converts" it to 320k. Just happened yesterday with some Sinatra I had ripped WMA Lossless. Not sure why. Ricardo? Any ideas? I tried researching it on Google, and some say it does support lossless, but another post says no, only WMA up to 320 (same for AAC and MP3).

Okay, I found this at the Zune site, but yesterday I saw it converting. Does this mean you have to rip using Zune software, not WMP11? That could be the culprit, right? I had ripped the CDs using WMP, not Zune 3.x.
(From the Zune spec sheet)
Windows Media® Audio Standard[3] (WMA) (.wma): Up to 320 Kbps; constant bit rate (CBR) and variable bit rate (VBR) up to 48-kHz sample rate. WMA Pro 2-channel up to 384 Kbps; CBR and VBR up to 48-kHz
WMA Lossless
Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) (.mp4, .m4a, .m4b, .mov) - .m4a and .m4b files without FairPlay DRM up to 320 Kbps; CBR and VBR up to 48-kHz
MP3 (.mp3) – Up to 320 Kbps; CBR and VBR up to 48-kHz

I dont have a zune anymore, so I'm not sure about the format zune can play, but if zune can do AAC, I think AAC lossless is the best way too go

Will only play AAC Lossless to 320k. WMA Lossless only, and only if ripped by Zune software.

Meant Apple Lossless. The Zune is limited to AAC at 320k.

@Tstarn
Plug your Zune. Start the software. Go to Settings - Device - Conversion Settings
in the audio section, check the option to "convert only formats not supported by Zune"

I don't have a Zune myself, but everything I've read on the specs says it only supports WMA lossless, not ALAC or FLAC. I'm assuming the Zune software can do the conversion and not WMP...my mistake. It does support AAC lossy, as mentioned by others (non-DRM'd, I assume).
