The people at stereophile say it sounds very similar to the Optimus CD-3400, but with a little less bass. If your not a bass head then this model isn't for you.

Try the Pans with Senns.. they mate like rabbits, and match eachother in terms of balance..

The old Pan CD players with MASH are quite nice for that warm musicality sensation...

Not all of the MASH-equipped players were warm, though. The XPS900 has a sonic character much more like that of the earlier Panasonic/Technics units.
