just asking whether a sony d-321 at $s 30 is worth it....
elushens, you might be able to find it cheaper but I don't think $30 is a bad deal either. It's a pretty underrated player in my book. I think you'd be happy with it for $30.
Current home rig:Windows XP iTunes -> Headroom Total Bithead -> Grado SR-60 Current portable rig:Apple iPod Touch 8GB -> Shure e4c w/ Triple Flange Tips Current speaker rig:Meridian G08 -> Meridian G02 -> Meridian G57 -> Dynaudio Confidence C1
The D-J50 is pretty much the only player that eluded me when I was going through my PCDP phase...
Nice unit

The D-321 is a underated player, to me it sounds very similar to the D-777. D-J50 is a unique vintage PCDP, it was Sony's ultra slim PCDP in the early days and it also sound great. I have a D-626 and it is a ok sounding PCDP. But considering the prices it commands because of it's rarity and the fact that it comes with a wireless remote control with a headphone jack you could get better sound quality out of a D-211 or D-311 for less.
actually ....the sound of d-j50 is much better than the d-321......
or maybe something is wrong with the d-321 cos volume does not seem
sensitive...
There is a known problem with the aged D321, where the AVLS slider seems to get stuck 'on'... get some canned air and clean out any dust within the switch, and then things might get a little louder
(alternatively, push the AVLS back and forth quickly numerous times, that might do the trick )

I like their mash players for their warm, musical character, but sometimes I think they are too warm, and I want something more dry and detailed.
In my CD Player:
Dreamtheater, Queen, Rush, Marillion, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Dio, Queensryche, Kings-X, Jethro', Yes, Primus, Eric Johnson, Liquid Tension Experiment, Junior Brown, Moody Blues, The Beatles, Styx, Asia
