anyone with a reasonable amount of mechanical dexterity can repair an ipod. My favorite site (i've bought many parts from these guys) is iFixit: iPod, iBook, & PowerBook Parts and Accessories.

I would google what the ipod is doing. Sad face icon on the screen?

Your post is very vague and the more descriptive you are, the better chances you'll have in buying the right replacement parts.

You say,

Does this mean its a 5th generation? If it is, I repaired my old one with a business card and its worked great ever since.

Might want to consider iRepair.ca - iPod, iPhone, Mac.
