I think Veggie_Musician wanted to be a bit ironic, or doesn't know about the limitation of daps sold in europe

I did a quick search, but found nothing on the topic, only for the HDD models.

I persumed the same but the, I even thought he missed the topic :-)

The thing is I love my player, SQ is very good with my Sennheiser but as I dont use any amp I could use some more Volume :-(

Yes I also found info only on HD players, but then I think there must be a way for flash based players aswell...

Impossible for now! Sorry. Might as well resell and get something else.

EDIT: Most of the discussion is on the AtracLife forums.

I couldn't tell from your topic title, but do you mean the Sony NW-HD1/2/3/5?

If so, this works:
http://web.mit.edu/semenko/sony-hacks/diagnostic.html

Otherwise, I have no idea. I removed the volume limiter on my Sony NW-HD3 ages ago when I still had it, but otherwise I'm not sure if you're talking about a new model.

Oh, and Evilking, I'd definitely be interested in your HD5, however I'll get back to you closer to January, if you still have it then great, otherwise no troubles.

He's talking about the flash players, for which there is no known method for entering "engineer" mode.

Cjattwood: Thanks for the offer but I may already have a sale. I'll get back to after Christmas etc.
