do you have to pay for it outright? does the site says when exactly in april they are going to be available?
They will charge you when it ships. The "on or available around date" is 3/28 plus standard shipping so by mid april at the very latest. Im sure by then the hype will be much greater and there should be tons of reviews rolling out. I plan to pair the player with the Denon ah-c700's and also the Audio Technicha ATH-ES7's.

The thing I don't like about the Sony mp3 walkman series is that you can't skip through a file quickly. I'd like to be able to skip through a mp3 audiobook but it goes so slow that it's not worth the purchase.
i have checked out teh a900 series at stores and it is quite impressive - 16 and 8bg. the new one is similar (820 series) but it has no tv ability. it is thin and both are less hissy than the old 800 and 600 series by far. as for soundstage, i think they don't touch the ipod series, but the ability to drive low imp phones is incredible. they sounded wonderful even with my atrio m5 which are sort of made to eliminate the need for a great portable amp.
as for ipod touch being low in crosstalk, it is much better than most portables out there, getting 53-73 db rather than 40 for d2 and a around 40-50 for samsung, iriver etc.
the sony is definately one of the best though
