Next time it happens, trying resetting the player. You do this by turning the hold switch on and the off again, and then pressing and holding the Menu and Select buttons simultaneously. You may have to hold them both for up to 30 seconds.

Thanks, I'll try that next time it dies. But as for battery life, I'm using R16440. Is the new patch a part of that build?
