Following on the thread I began to discover which PCDPs (vintage or new) could be enjoyed with the DAC facility of my iBasso D1, I thought it might be useful to compile a list of known PCDPs and DAPs that function portably (i.e. on battery power) featuring optical or coaxial outputs.
So feel free to reply and I'll add them to list!
Please note: listed players are Toslink optical unless specified otherwise.

Can someone tell me if the optical out of the older pcdps are indeed better than the new ones? I read somewhere that the older models without esp/antishock (or fist generation selectable esp) have significantly better optical out, is this true?
Does the optical output of the CT540 function on battery power or only when connected with the AC adapter, as Kramer noted about his Panasonics?
I ordered it last thursday, so it should be here in the next few days. I'll let you know about the AC Adapter and optical when I get it...well, I guess I should get on ordering that D1 now so I can use the optical
