From what I've seen/experienced in this forum, once something has piqued your interest and that seed has been planted inside your mind it's only a matter of time before you take said plunge (no matter what the cost). Might? No my friend, you will

Here's my newest rig which replaced a Sansa e270 -> PA2V2 -> Super.fi 5 EB rig...

Trekstor Vibez (12gb) -> Shure e500

I have an RSA Hornet being shipped to me at the moment, but will only be reserved for full-sized cans coming my way in the near future... this current set up will therefore remain amp-less.
Once you get your Hornet and plug in your IEMS... and experience the isolation of the IEM and the spectacular low noise floor of the Hornet, you will find it hard to separate them I really enjoy the way the music just seems to flow out of the black background, its pretty cool. Its easy enough to just change the gain control on the unit too from H, M or L. and adjust for full size cans or your IEMS.

Normally, I would always supplement a DAP with an amp, but one of the things that sets the Vibez apart from any other player I've used (sansa e200 series, ipod nano 1g and 2g, ipod shuffle 1g and 2g, ipod 4g-5.5g, etc...) is that there is ABSOLUTELY NO HISS (with my e500s + ears at least)... the first time I tried it I was in disbelief and thought there must have been something wrong with the connection between my IEMs and the unit so I went ahead and pressed play... needless to say, I immediately regretted that decision . The only thing the hornet would probably provide is a more expansive soundstage (with the vibez that is), but I'm more than willing to sacrifice that in order to save a few more ounces.

the only thing I did notice is that there is a faint (I stress the word "faint") clicking in the background whenever you would adjust the volume... I think this might have something to do with the "magnetic-wheel-thinga-majig" mechanism that the player uses.

so, in short, Trekstor vibez FTW

^^How did you feel the amp changed the sound on the 555s?

English is not my first language so it's hard to describe my foundings.

My first improvement was from the the 202's to the 555's. This was an enormous change in sound quality. The difference if putting the c&c box in the setup is not huge as the last upgrade, but worth the money. (at least for me)

Sound feels warmer and more detailled. Actually heard some things I did not heard before. The greatest difference is that the amp takes of the sharp edge of the high sounds, and make it more round. It's also nice to play with the three compesation switches.

I probably gonna upgrade to some better closed headphones in the future. Maybe some ultrasones or beyers. I'd a bit more of a kick in the lower freqs.

Could someone post up some pictures of the actual Vibez? I've seen it in product photos but not in "real" photos. Something like having it in your hand would be nice so I can actually gauge how big it is, whether it really is that awkward looking, etc. THANKS!

Be in Bliss then.

I see you are using big "O" rings to hold your amp and pod together, so do I, they make a nice stable platform as well.

Aye,

Skylab gave me the idea,before i had both the TH and nano..
After looking through every nook and cranny in every type of shop you can imagine for some alternative..

I had to settle with the black plastic o ring thingys.

They actualy do work a charm, Its not going anywhere. feels so solid and secure. very nice feeling to my hands.

Rubber feet ontop hold it well sterdy, like being able to see the Dr.Samuels text ..
some black thick foam pads on the bottom for that tad extra protection.
