thanks barry.

switching from a m-audio transit + sr-17 to iriver h140 + sr71 really showed how a good dac reveals amazing treble on the same mp3's.

Poor man's rig. Here's what I spent on it total:

iPod: $70 (used)
TurboDock: $27
Cardas HPI: $20
Xenos amp: $45
Sinbios 75ohm adapter: $30
Er-4P's: $170

I think this is about the limit of my head-fi spending. Ideally I'd like to get a Tomahawk but there are other things I want to spend money on at this point.

ampless. anyone gotsa cheap low-gain amp to buy?

despite the wrong colour selection, it's still labelled as the "OMG it ain't white? it don't match" rig

and yes, notice the old skool Robyn album at the top. her 2005 album is far better though.

my portable rig as of my first headphone purchase in over a year, the Yuin PK2. Now, I just use my Shure E3 if I'm on a plane.

Did you notice any better SQ using the iPod remote? I really don't want to buy an amp (compromise my portablility) but I'm willing to add the iPod remote for some better SQ

Home Rig:

I've got some hd650's with a cardas v2 cable coming soon, and I'll be happy.

Portable Rig:

I'm hoping to see a Zune LOD sometime soon, and I'll probably upgrade to PK1, to take advantage of the beautiful C&C Box.

Ive been trying to "Hunt" down some of those cancer or aids wrist bands they have at supermarkets ect. (no love) 2 black ones would be perfect to hold the sony and GV5 together..
How does the GV5 stack up with those components? Seeing the pictures, seems like a more "typical" amp would be a Hornet to compliment those other items in your pic.

Nice rig though, I'm just wondering on what your opinion is.

running through the headphone-out, it did seem louder than using the remotes headphone-out. That being said, it does sound marginally better from the radio remote; it does sound more tame, yet soft. although both produce a fair amount of hiss, but i guess that's to be expected.
