Hmm. The people on that thread are saying the soundstage is wider, and the UI runs smoother...

does this mean i have to reformat/restore and reload all my songs again!

Nobody has said anything about having to reload all their music, I think you are in the clear, FeedMeTrance, go for it and report any changes.

yeah i am downloading it now, and will post updates as i get em
from what ive read the main fix is the coverflow, and some smoothness in navigation. also some elements fo sound have been enhanced

No,it only update your firmware,not restore your iPod.

just an update: trying to install but keeps going round and round: i plug in ipod it says its installing, it installs, then ipod resets, then itunes sees the ipod again but doesnt realise it has the new firmware so asks to install again etc etc

i tried it on a another pc and it worked fine, so its updated, but im still not feeling like the update has acheived much
apple needs to tackle the stuff ppl want in the forums etc

no any problem with mac, download the firmware and sync the classic normally ...and as said before coverflow is more fluid, hope it gets a lot more fluid
