It was just the craziness of the iPod stolen, then hand laceration somehow leading to coming out of the closet on Head-fi which made it one of my favorite threads for a classic moment. Being a joke only offended me.
I'm sure that a large majority of my posts were me trying my best to contribute helpfully. Anyone can feel free to search them. Sorry if I have offended others even more so.
I do go to NC State.

I interpreted it as sarcasm as a result of one of his assailants refering to him as a homosexual. It puzzled me at first but then my sense of humor kicked in a second later.

I was wondering how having your ipod stolen can result in the sudden realization that youre gay...lol.
But how do you get your hand lacerated from an 1/8" jack? :O
Too bad you didnt think of it at the time, but if your hand was bleeding and they called you gay, you could have screamed for them to stand back because youre bleeding and have aids, and you think some blood may be on your ipod, and maybe they would have dropped it and youd have it back.

Amazon.com: SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player (Black): Electronics
it is ugly, small, unsexy, and not the object of gang's interest, but it sounds big like a $300 player

I'm not sure. I didn't notice until I got home. It must have been yanked really hard.

Good plan. If the police/school don't get it back, I'll just say I used it as a sex toy and forgot to wipe it with disinfectant that day.

Wait a second, I'm confused. Having your iPod stolen turns you gay..? That can't be right...
If it were me I'd get an old cassette walkman, hollow it out and hide your new DAP inside it. A really nasty looking, cheapo, plastic, wafty piece of crap walkman

I think that in an environment where people are going to steal your iPod, they are also going to steal any other DAP, your shoes, or whatever else looks tempting.
|
Agreed. If they will take an Ipod they'll take a Rio or Sony or.... Just get another Ipod and dont advertise it.You must be a deep sleeper...

So, yeah, I've got a $300 budget for a new DAP. All I care about is music playback. My OS is Vista (unfortunately), and my main music player is foobar2k. I mostly use MP3s. I'd like to avoid touch screens. While not required, I want a good, adjustable EQ, preferably at least 8 bands. Normally I know exactly what I want to listen to in a given week, so lots of storage space isn't required, meaning small flash players are fine.
I don't want another iPod -- I live in an area with lots of gang activity and iPods are popular items for theft. It was probably a gang member that stole it -- I'm not positive who did it because I was napping when it happened, with the laceration being what woke me up. I won't be taking it on the schoolbus again, but you can never be too safe.
Basically, nothing flashy looking. That means I probably wouldn't mind getting an old-but-good MP3 player. I'm no expert on the subject, but I heard that the Rio Karma is amazing for some reason. If there's some totally badass DAP with GPS and fingerprint scanners and other James Bond features I'd be interested in it, though.

Sorry to hear about your loss, they should put some kind of tracking device inside those...
But I'm glad you want to break free from the ipod trap...once you buy something else you'll never look back.
The Cowon U3 is an awesome little player, has an fm tuner, plays flac, awesome sound.
My nephew had a 1st gen nano that he hated, so I bought it from him for 20 bucks (just for experimental purposes). He then bought a Cowon U3 and he loves it...no software needed...he hated itunes.

I'm confused. Are you gay or not? o:
Oh, and I don't think it's in your best interest to file a complaint against a gang member. The iPod was the only thing stolen? No amp / headphone? I think you should just be thankful that your hand was the only thing lacerated.
BTW, I usually fall asleep on buses as well, not on school buses because it's a 10 min drive but this one time, I took a bus from the north (Israel) to the center (about 150KM ~ 100Miles) and I fell asleep, and when I fall asleep there could be a war and I won't wake up. It took my father about 30 calls to wake me (one of the soldiers that were on the bus woke me up). I didn't miss my station by too much.
My father wanted me to go to a doctor so I could see why I sleep so deep, and apparently I have a sleeping disorder LOL :P
About the DAP, I would recommend a 250$ iPod for regular use, and a 50$ player (Sansa / iRiver) for school.

Old school PCDPs. Good sound and the gang members would laugh at you for being so 'yesterday'.
I don't know. At first read, I interpreted the gay joke as you waking up scared ****less with a bleeding hand but relieved that you weren't murdered because of an iPod.

Now that I've had a day to figure things out, it's just a 5-foot wigger. The only actual gang member on that bus is my friend. Also, I really only use my MP3 player on the bus and on my bike. I'll probably end up with a Clip.

I sold my old Denon PCDP a few months ago. I don't really want a PCDP -- most of the time I'm going to be listening to new downloads that I haven't yet formed a real opinion on, let alone bought on CD.
