i am in Canada...that is why it's so freakin' high.

I got mine from Sony Style USA because of the 150 dollar credit with the Sony Card.

I will have mine July 17th!!!

Here is the interview with X1000 series developers, #03.

Google Translate
Google Translate

Key points from my rusty translation.
1) The concept/theme of X1000's body is to have the feel that it has been made from stone.
2) The body frame is made from aluminum die cast.
3)To produce the unique rough feel is made by burning/heatng the special paint/coating.
4) Yes, the front surface is made from GLASS.

This is the part 03/05, and I feel this is the best part of the interview. Part 02 also nice... and let others to try to translate it .

Hope the information can be added to the FAQ .

Thank you.

Hi guys!

For a couple of days now I own the X and have been quite impressed with the audio quality. But one question pops up constantly, how do you get the hiss under control? With my UM2 or even my less sensitive customs the hiss is audible at silent passages of music. But fortunately that's the only downside so far.

Yup, it do hiss with UM3Xs but not quite noticeable, and I had to use my brain's 'noise cancelation', in other word, just ignore and get used to it .

So as I ponder buying a ridiculously over priced crystal hard case ($45) I wonder if I should just buy an extended warranty instead.

Does anyone know what exactly the Accidental Damage from Handling service plan include?
Quote:
Accidental Damage from Handling Protection (ADH) plans offer the same benefits as the Regular Extended Service Plans but gives the added benefit of repairing or replacing your Sony product when it malfunctions due to breakdowns that occur from handling the product under normal operating conditions.

This Service Plan includes all parts, labor and shipping costs in its coverage to make sure your Sony product is repaired and delivered back to you without any out-of-pocket costs. Coverage begins on the date you purchased the product and runs concurrently with the Limited Warranty.

lol! Good advice bakhtiar, the 'brain' noise cancellation is quite effective and cost effective too

It seems my X doesn't like my Mac too much. I'm having a very difficult time having the cds I ripped on my Mac to show the album art on the X. I am using Max to rip my cds to Apple Lossless and then converting them to 320 Mp3. All the tags and art are correct on my computer, but don't show up on my x1061. I then assumed it was because the embedded art on the files were png (which you do not have the option to change when using Max), but when I used Jaikoz to change the embedded art to jpg, I found that it still did not work for me. I'm also having trouble with the X showing the tracks of an album in the correct order. But when I check the same files on my mac, all of the tags are correct with the right track numbers. This ONLY happens with the cds I've ripped on my Macbook Pro. I have a few downloaded albums on my X1061 and it shows the album art and the tracks in the correct order. I am seriously stumped at the moment but I will continue to mess around with it.

Also, I have ATT Uverse router/modem and I have trouble refreshing my Slacker stations when connected to my house connection. I connect to Youtube and can use the web browser just fine, but cannot refresh my stations. When I try to refresh my stations it attempts to "Sign In" and sometimes attempts to "Search for new songs" but shortly after that I will get an error saying "An error has occurred during the refresh operation. Check the network settings and try again." I talked to Slacker and they said that the Slacker application on my player can't reach the Slacker servers with my internet connection. So I assumed it was an ATT security issue. So I removed the firewall specifically for this device to allow any and ALL applications to run through the IP of my X1000. And as soon as I did that, it got a little further in refreshing my stations. It showed the 3 stations I have selected and showed the downloaded percentages. After maybe about halfway done through the first station I get the same error. Ever since, I couldn't get close to refreshing my stations anymore. It only takes me straight to that error. I talked to Sony and it seems I was the FIRST to call with that problem. The main technical support guy there said he would email me back after he got a test unit and was able to talk to the engineers about the problem. I just got an email back today and he said "My engineers confirmed with me that there is an issue on the Slacker side of the application, it is currently being addressed. The resolution will take some time, keep checking the slacker app for any changes." However, refreshing my Slacker stations DOES work at 3 other locations I've tried.

I am VERY happy with the player so far, I just wished it worked a little more smoothly for me like it did for others here. I may have to reinstall Windows 7 again via bootcamp and just rip my cds on windows.

So yeah, I haven't been able to just sit down and enjoy my X1000 too much since I've been just trying to get everything working properly. Not only that my main IEMs are out for repair ....and it's damn hot over here.

UPDATE: I somehow got an album working in the correct track order and album art! now I just need to do whatever I did again lol.

UPDATE #2: So I selected an album and updated the album art from png to jpeg, transferred them to my X and went to test it out. It works! But now the rest of the IDTag info is gone...but it only shows the tags are missing on my X not on my computer...sigh.

Well that's my NWU3 dock wrecked. I can't find a suitable place to mount it in the car, so my idea was to hide the dock and run a lead from the plug to the X.

Thing is, I can't find a female socket to plug into the dock, so I removed to the dock plug and soldered it on a long lead, Big Mistake! the tiny ribbon cable lifted the circuit board track and the damn thing was foobared.

Plan B.

Next I used the male plug and wired up a simple line out to a stereo mini jack. It works, but it's quieter than the headphone out and the volume isn't constant like it is in the dock.

Another dock is on order, they really do sound better than coming out of the headphone out, the sound jumps up in quality and the top end is noticeably more crisp and refined.

Also you don't have to power the dock to use the line out, powering it is only for charging the walkman.

If anyone knows of a male to female lead or adaptor, I will be very grateful if you could let me know...

Ta.

Neil.

Hope this question has not been asked before but:

Does this player have unicode support?

ie. Does it display Chinese/Japanese/Korean tags?

Here are some example tags you can use to test for me:

Chinese: 方力申 - 自欺欺人
Japanese: 浜崎あゆみ - フィギュア
Korean: 사랑이라는건 - 고개돌려

Preferably response from UK users.

Thanks!

finally tested the sony x at Sony Style, i brought 4 headphones with me, the staff looked at me strange...this is ABSOLUTELY the best player I have heard...EVER.
Tested it with Monster Turbines, EP-830, JVC FX500's i just got from Japan, and the stock phones from my S639.

No comparison. Wow. So clear, and the bass is deeper than on the S639 for sure.

Get yours now!

Hmm, okay, a couple of dumb questions, sorry! The CDs that you ripped on your Macbook, did you try using mp3tag or another tagging editor to see if the track numbers showed up there at all?

The reason I ask is because I had a few albums that copied to the X in alphabetical order instead of track order – and although the track numbers showed up in the WMP editor – they didn’t appear in mp3tag, so I entered them manually and then re-synced, and they were fine.

And I guess you know that jpegs have to be saved as 'baseline standard' formats and not 'optimized' or 'progressive'? Anyway, I hope you get it all figured out soon and have time to enjoy it instead of wanting to smash it through the nearest window lol
