Talking I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions

UPDATE 19TH MAY

Since this thread is already getting quite long, and everyone has a million questions - walkingman and I thought an FAQ would be a good idea for quick access to things we know about the X1000. All credit goes to walkingman since it was all his work and absolutely none of mine at all.

Anyone new to this thread should give his FAQ a good read because it contains a lot of useful information!

FAQ for the Sony X1000 Page 27

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't believe anyone at Sony sales. I just called them to ask why they said it wasn't in stock until the 19th May, and they said it isn't in stock anywhere...

So here are some pics of the Sony that I didn't get because it's not in stock! Anyway, I picked one up from John Lewis and took a couple of quick pics.

The X1000 is smaller than I expected and really light. I need to charge it up and then I'll update this post

From left to right: Touch 2G, Sony X1060, Sony A808 and Sansa Fuze.

Quick update. The dandruffy effect that I thought would be horrible, is actually very subtle and it's only on the sides. It feels like dry rough skin though, although it gives it a good grip so I shouldn't complain. And the screen feels like thick plastic. More later

Daddy - sig updated!

Sceptre - I can't wait to listen to it for the first time

Excellent - quick work. I'm hoping the X Series + IE8's is going the new killer combo. Now I'm off to John Lewis...

It has about 40% charge now so I'm going to take a listen when I transfer some music over.

Oh, and the screen is already smothered in fingerprints

P.S The screen is really nice.

Just as I thought they had them in. Going out to John Lewis later to pick them.

Hey soozieq-
It looks awesome! More pics, more pics, more pics!! You have to do something while it's charging you know! How's the size/form factor compared to the A829? Is it just about exactly the same size as we were figuring?

I cannot wait to hear your first impressions of the SQ!

Congrats!

The size is absolutely tiny in comparison with the iPod. Wow.

You got it!!!
Congratulations, I was confident you would get in in May, but I didn't think it would be this fast.
Looking forwards to your impressions, specially SQ, but first: enjoy!
