Fuze vs A818
Hi,
today was a good day...
day off work...sun is shining...my a818 and my atrio's got stolen.....
Anyway...i need a new player am making do with my 616 for now. so its not like i dont have a player...
size comparison using : Sized Up:size before buy
anyway so the fuze is smaller and thinener but about 1/2cm wider than the a818. Is also does better in terms of hiss and scores better loaded with atrio's in rmaa tests...sony has a 32hour life whereas the fuze has a 24hour life. sony has no expansion whereas fuze has crappy microsd...
$15 for a 4gb micro sd off the bay is alluring. Could grab one or 2 and keep them in my wallet. On the other hand who want to carry them around anyway. i owned the sony and they are imho the best designed players on the market in terms of usability...ive tried the iaudio d2, ipod, teclast, iaudio 7 (very bad) and the zen. One the other hand reviews for the san players usability arnt baddd...
but thats all i know. doesnt mean its a better player
help

Ive been reading posts here for a while. Its about time I posted something!
I believe this
plus this
would equal this :
Remembering the fiio is tiny...asp er what ive read
Heres the fiio on the back of a sony (pic taked from head-fi...u can see how the fiio makes the sony nwz look huge
Other than that from what I have read here the sony kills any San player in terms of sq.
Get some etymonic iems

I'm not sure whether it's true, but the clip has the same sound signature as the fuze, I liked the a818 a whole lot better.

Because liking something is related to one's sonic signature preferences.
The Sony would sound more impressive to the more younger audiences due to its boosted lower ends.
That said, try out both players, they're both good.

The Sony's "boosted low end" makes for good synergy with any IEM or headphone that lacks bass--such as Etymotic IEMs. I am very fond of my A728 + ER4P combo.

I was going through the same debate...read these threads
Sandisk Fuze vs. Sony Walkmans- sq only?
D2 vs Fuze..
Then threads contrasting the d2 vs the sony.
From what I've read:
Sony has a warmer sound signature (boosted bass)
Fuze is more detailed with a more flat sound sig
Sony has better eq settings (but not as good as cowon players)
Both have similar soundstage
Fuze is better for hiss
Both are basically very very good players.
I chose the fuze b/c its MUCH cheaper (by $70CND) with expandable memory. Although the sony does come with better buds I have a pair of SA6 that I just got today =) That and I perfer more details to more bass as I feel you can get more bass oriented headphones for that =)

One thing you'll discover with the Fuze is how prone to scratching it is. I had two of them, an 8GB silver and a newer 4GB red, and saw a nick on the red one's screen. I tried rubbing it out but instead ruined the player. It was so scratch up that I just gave it away. Of all my players I have, this and the E series Sansas are the most scratch loving players. But then again, I prefer my DAPs to be in perfect condition. I can achieve that with most of them. The Fuze, I cannot. I decided not to replace it.
I will say, though, it is a beauty and very well designed and plays wonderfully and so forth. Unfortunately you will be limited to Sansa Media Converted video files to use on the Fuze. It won't accept any other file and you can't make it accept them. SMC won't process any MPEG-2 files either. You can rip a DVD to AVI and have SMC convert it, though. Sandisk is in leaguie with the movie industry and that's why the Fuze, and likely all of the video playing Sansa eventually, no longer play non-SMC converted files or use MPEG-2.

yep...the fuze doesn't really play videos too well...but when it comes down to being a music player it's all good.
If you are considering video playback the Creative zen seems to be the best of the bunch...

Not really as there are still audio/video sync issues w/the Zens, including the new X-Fi. The screen DOES look spectacular though. And the SQ is really nothing to write home about. I originally had a D2 and sold it to get the Zen 32gb. Sold the Zen 32gb and went back to the D2 - the Zen's SQ is so "Meh". Plus the crippled sdhc integration is really a prob for most - didn't bother me really - but it's horrible as mostly all functions are not available for music and vids on the sd card.
