EFN, why did you choose two connections between the dock and the "Shuttlepod". I would think that the elimination of both two solder joints and two mechanical joints would produce a cleaner sound. Also have you thought of filling the "air space" of the "Shuttlepod" with hot melt glue (or equivalent)? The idea being to act as a damper.
I realize that it would provide some freedom to use different ICs but in your case since you know the components needed to achieve the sound you want then I do not see the need for the added complexity.

Hey buddy you have a valid point there. But I figured that if all the joints are done properly with precision soldering, it will be as clean as a fully hardwired setup. The trick lies in super clean soldering and I use Eichmann Silver solder exclusively - on top of that, only the highest grade jacks and plug are used. The jacks are of premium made (Japanese). True indeed, when I have them all plugged in, I could not discern any degradation in SQ despite the many links.
But then again bear in mind this is still in "beta" stage LOL!. My MKIII with the V-Caps will mark the return of Franken ShuttlePod
And yes, the caps inside the enclosure are dampened with healthy support of 3M double sided tapes to keep them in place.
SOOOO, it seems the ugly Franken sibling has many admirer eh....lament not! MKIII is near the horizon.....................

OMG......Great work EFN!!!!!
I will say that I liked the all in one solution, but this is definitely cleaner. The only thing that could be a problem is if you ever want to use a larger amp.

Oh yeah, that's right, the Reference is coming....nice!
Just a thought..why don't you send out a IC to see how many of us would seriously want one of these to really get a feel for how much work it would be for you to do them. We all would need a price of course, but you could be like Xin and make them when you can. I know I would be willing to wait 3 months. It's not like waiting on an amp. We all have nice sounding rigs right now, so this would be icing on the cake.
If not, detailed instructions would be nice.

Actually I do have plans to set up a "Loaner Program" at which I will send out a Franken Dock to Head-Fiers globally - perhaps accompanied by my SuperMicro-IV. I just want to share the goodness which I am feeding my ears now. But since SuperMicro-IV is my only amp, chances are low I will part way with it, not even for a day (so please don't hope too much)

I'm talking about selling them. I would buy it without hearing it first. I trust your ears and with the exceptional parts you are using, it has to sound great.

Well certainly sign me up for that action. Perhaps we could do a trade. It looks great -- I cannot remember who was thinking about putting the output of the box on the perpendicular face of the enclosure with respect to the input ... but that might allow you to have a little more wiggle room and use a 90 deg. mini to 90 deg. mini to connect your amp very nicely.
Love how you migrated the Loud warning. Entire thing looks great.

Inspirational stuff! I have 2 x 3.3uF 250V OIMP V-Caps on the way to play with. Wanted TFTFs but over a grand for caps?
