I believe that is incorrect. I own two T60 players and I can transfer files on half exhausted or even nearly exhausted batteries. It won't however allow a procedure such as a file transfer or (particularly) a reformat unless there is a certain minimum amount of battery charge left. The required amount of charge is indeed somewhat higher than the minimum required for continued, normal operation, however it isn't a full charge by any means.

I use a Rio Chiba - takes a aaa battery and has an SD card - very, very pleased with it - some of them are drag and drop file capable some require their software - love the former, hate the latter

Bump-A-Long...
There aren't any new players to add to this list, are there?
I'm highly doubting it...

I read somewhere that the larger flash memory's need more juice than an AA/AAA battery can provide. Also that the new color displays need more juice. And that disposable players are more profitable. :-)

I'll add the Samsung YP-MT6 to the list.
It was my first player ever, has 45 hours battery life with a lithium AA, supports OGG, 1gb FLASH. FM Radio, voice recorder, drag and drop.
It had decent SQ until a battery exploded inside it. I cleaned it out and it works, but it has an unfortunate high frequency hiss that is 300% louder than it ever was before. Using an impedance adapter fixes that though.

The industry has moved away from replaceable batteries and SD card support. Why? I think they want you to throw away and buy new. Mattery life is better with Lithium, but rechargeable NimH are cheap and easily replaceable. Still, a throw away like the Sansa Clip is hard to beat - very good sound quality, very clear screen, very small, low price, good battery life, standard connector. I have some SD card players, but the clip has replaced them because it is superior in every way (especially sound quality).

i cant see how the clip can be beat lol
other than nitpickers about needing a mini-usb to usb plug that is only like 2 inches long, and that the battery life doesnt last longer than 12 hours...
