Best synergy with Klipsch Image X10
Hi there. First post here. I'm looking for new device instead of my sony a816. I like its sound but 4gb is toooo little... So I'm thinking of buying Ipod Classic 160, and I also likes cowon D2 (but it's hardly enough too). What is the best synergy with my Image X10. I'd buy ipod because of 160gb, but how it sounds with X10? What should I do guys?
thx

Well keep in mind the Cowon has expandable memory for SD (which I think is up to 32gb cards).
I personally own the x10s and I use a Sansa Clip un amped at the moment. This seems to give some strong bass from such small player.
I used to own a D2 also, but I find it sat more in the high to mid of the audio then getting to the lows (I also had horrific tagging issues with Cowon). So that might just work on a x10 since its been stated as a bass heavy IEM.
iPod's have always been strong this forum it seems due to iMod (dont know if u can iMod a Classic) and Rockbox (dont think a Classic can get Rockbox either).
The big suprise on players so far I think has been on the Fuze and of course Sony's new DAPs. The fuze brings a 8gb model with expandable memory and clean sound. The Sony models have always brought great sound but are always one behind in the size game (32gb DAPs are being released while Sony just released a 16gb model).

I do like my X10s with both my Fuze and D2. I use it mostly with my Fuze of late because of the portability and ease of use on the go (any touchscreen sucks to use when active). I do have to mention that I have a weird connection problem with my X10 headphone jack into my Fuze headphone out though. I have to have it slightly pulled out like 1mm just to have it operate. If I have it all the way in I get a sound skipping issue. It isn't loose slightly pulled out though.
If you are into the touchscreen thing though, it does pair really well with a D2 also. The X10s 50 ohms does for the most part offset the bass rolloff issue the D2 has.

About D2 I don't really like touchscreen but the SQ
hmm Nobody uses X10 with ipod classic (unamped)??
Fuze is nice but the capacity. 8gb fuze + 32gb sd (if it's available) maybe enough for mp3 but not for flac

does it not bother anyone that when u insert an sd card to an already built in 8 gig mp3 player that the memory splits? i dont think when u put a 32 gig sd into an 8 gig, it becomes a 40 gig mp3 player. i think they split into seperate memories. so u have info on an 8 gig section and then a seperate 32 gig section, i dont think they combine. so u can only access things on each card. personally, i know i would be frustrated and not very happy if i cant combine the two into one big 40 gig. does it not bother any of u guys tho?

Yes, it shows up as seperate drives (which is only natural for any DAP with expansion memory). Of course, when in use, both the Fuze and D2 seemlessly combine into 1 music database which in the end is what matters.

oh really, i did not know that. so they come up and they are viewed as two seperate databases but when playing shuffle or whatever, they combine? interesting. thanks for clearing that up for me, i might just consider now mp3 players with sd slot expansion in the future. i wasnt 100% sure of all this, hence the "i think" in front of my sentences =)

Not all mp3 players with expansion slots combine into 1 music database when in use. I know Sansa Fuze and Cowon D2 do it, but I believe the Creative players do not, for instance.

oh thats right, i think i did hear on other creative forums about the new zen when it came out how they didnt combine into two which turned quite a few people off. i think after that i just assumed all sd slot expansion mp3 players did that haha
