Default Aargh!!! Can't seem to pick an mp3 player.

Hey all! I am looking around to buy a decent mp3 player which had good recording capabilities, I have Westone UM1 earphones, I have been looking around and have liked the Cowon iAudio 7, the feature set looks good enough, long battery life and good audio support, I was looking at the 16gb model but have read about the transfer issues which are a deal-breaker for me, I am currently looking around and I might settle on the 8gb version if nothing else pops up. I am here for some more recommendations. Basically, I do a lot of recording (lectures, events, etc) and need to be able to connect to multiple computers for transfers, must show up as a Removable Disk, good battery life, small, physical buttons and durable. I have seen some iRiver players, but still can't decide. Any help appreciated. Thanks
