Steve...
My experience with my Pro.1 running the v5.31firmware is exactly as yours...I reformatted the internal drive, which I didn't do the first update, then ran the firmware update again after reformatting.

The SQ is warmer than it was when I first updated without a format.

My Pro.1 also now recognizes my 1gb card that has approx 10.5 gb of folder albums. Boot time is about 2 minutes, but it does resume at the tune that was playing when shut down.

I will probably continue to use my Pro.1 until the Pro.2 firmware is updated, as I can live with the long Random boot times, and if I remember, I just change to Normal prior to shutting down.

I have confidence that Hisoundaudio will address the reported Pro.2 issues in a short time, as Craig is really on top of this project.

On my Pro.1, I prefer the 5.31 (updated) FW. There seem to be some differences between the Pro.1 units which causes them to respond differently to the two FW versions released for the Pro.1 by HiSoundAudio. Depending on how a particular Pro.1 unit responds to each of the two FW versions, and the preferences of the owner, one or the other FW version would be favored. For me, and the Pro.1 in my possession, that would be the 5.31 FW.

The main reasons behind my preference are:
1) I prefer the power-on defaults of the 5.31 FW. Mainly that Sleep Time is Off when the Pro.1 is powered up.
2) I prefer the SQ using the 5.31 FW - a milder, warmer sound, but without losing any of what I like to call the "fresh", "live" sound of the AMP3.
3) For my Pro.1 unit (which is different than for other Pro.1 units), using the 5.31 FW, I can use a 16GB microSDHC card in my Pro.1 (up to about 1.6 GB short of being totally full). On my Pro.1 unit, running the 5.26 FW, the AMP3 does not see any of the files on a 16GB card - even if the total space used by the files is well below 8GB. Again, this is different than has been reported for other Pro.1 units.

Is LOW volume something that has ever been corrected through a software update in ANY dap that you have heard of?

Yes, sure it can be done, and I don't like to be questioned with the use of capitalization, unless it's being used in the beginning of a word in new sentence..

Sorry about that. I just read my question and I see how that could be irritating. I appreciate your response, wasn't trying to offend. So, you have heard of this being done?

Your resonse is certainly accepted Okay, it's getting late If the original volume output from the amplification unit has been decreased for some reasons through the software it can of course or maybe be optimized again and combined with the neccesary hardware and circuit modifications to achieve the best sound quality. Ref. to AMP3
Other DAP's where you can change this through software. Rockbox software can do it. And European Ipods amongst others has a limiter volume cap. written in their software that can be modified to make it play it as loud as in the US.

Thank you JupiterKnight. If other's are having this volume problem, it's likely those who use full size 'phones for the most part. I'm sure if enough people are having the same problem, and something can be done, HiSound will fix it. With my IEM's it's fine, but I don't like using them nearly as much. Anyways, you're right. It's getting late. Thanks for your reply, it helped!

Ron,

Thank you for posting that. Your originally posted experiences with a 16GB card and the two versions of FW on your Pro.1 (originally the opposite of my own experiences) were certainly on my mind during my previous post.

Differences in AMP3-Pro.1 behavior that you have experienced between installing the V5.31 FW with and without a format of the data area show the format to be more of a significant factor in a FW installation than I would have previously thought. I always checked the "Reformat Data Area" checkbox to satisfy my own persnickediness about doing a "clean install". It's good to know that, sometimes, that persnickediness of mine yields some welcome results.

Again, thanks for posting your experiences. It's reassuring about the hardware configuration management going into the Pro.1 when different Pro.1 units show the same behavior after installing the same FW when the installs are performed in the same way.

Feel free to take your time replying to my email. Congratulations on a) discovering a wire to bring out the best from the JH13's and b) your success in getting so many recable orders. I'll need to keep your JH13 recable in mind, seeing that I'm thinking about a pair of those for use with my AMP3. How do you find the JH13 to work with the AMP3? I'm thinking primarily of a) overall SQ and b) background sounds from the AMP3 in relation to sounds from the music playing.

The JH13's are living up to the hype. The universal synergy I have not heard from any headphone...

I HIGHLY recommend!!

I can attest to the quality of the silver wire Craig is using. He recabled my KSC-35s and the difference in SQ is absolutely unbelievable. They are now the sonic equal of any of my dynamics.

In my past experiences with silver cable, it tended to make the sound overly bright, but that is not the case with this wire. Bass is deep, tight, and realistic. Imaging is absolutely suberb with a very lifelike soundstage, both in width and depth.

As Craig stated, the wire needs about 150 hours for optimum sound, so I will hold off on a review until that time.

As the wire is solid, it is not as flexible as stock stranded wire, but the sound is worth any inconvenience due to the stiffness.

OK, that does it! Now, I'm going to have to start to eyeball the gear in my collection that doesn't get used all THAT much to assess which of it I can sell off to finance a pair of the JH13's (recabled, of course) ;-)

I was going to do that anyway, based on how much of my listening I'm doing with my AMP3's (and, correspondingly, how little with my larger, desktop, wall-powered gear). But these testimonials put a little more oomph behind it and add a good dollop more gumption to my doing it (yes, I wrote both dollop and gumption).

Was pleasantly surprised to come home and find a delivery from Whiplash which I tore open like a kid at Christmas. Inside I was amazed to find my recabled Zino's (I am going to have to post a picture, they are ab so lute ly stunning) They also surprised me with their wide open sound and deep bass. I'm not used to hearing such magic from an inexpensive headphone with absolutely no burn-in.
Secondly, I unwrapped the TWcu LOD cable with its Viablue connector. Is there an award out there for like the best looking LOD ever? This would win it. Again, a picture is needed.
I can't comment on it's sound yet obviously but if it's anything like it looks.....

Thirdly, the much sought after and highly coveted Amp3 Pro2. So, with a good dollop of gumption, (where have I heard that?..lol) I opened the box, found the power cord etc and plugged the puppy in to charge. There are no instructions to follow so I have just a couple of questions. When the Amp3 Pro2 is fully charged, will the light go out on the unit? Secondly, is there firmware someplace that I should be downloading and installing?
Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer or one who's elevator does not reach the top floor, I mistakenly purchased a 32 GB SDHC card for this unit. I forgot that it takes the Micro flavor of the SDHC. Luckily I do have a brand new 8GB Micro hanging around which I plan to use for now.
If anyone feels gracious enough to help with instructions explaing the proper order in which to proceed I will send them 5 million dollars in small untraceable currency. OK, I can't do that but I will say thank you and mean it.
Alright, enough writing, I should eat something to calm these shaking hands so I don't screw anything up.
