Was it the "John's" in the West Village by 6th and Greenwich? If so, there are a number of great vinyl stores littering the streets in the surrounding area.

I'd rather have streaky bacon than back bacon. Back bacon just sounds nasty. Plus you guys don't cook it enough so it's just flaccid.

It was the "John's Pizzeria Eastside" on 64th. If you are talking about the John's on Bleecker it's the same John's (same owner http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com/)

Ah yes. John's has played a vital role over the years, to the cumulative damage of the roof of my mouth.

I don't think Papa Dell's is as good as the true Chicago faire. My favorite is Lou Malnati's. Don't listen to Kevin, he's biased. We should probably hold a mini-meet in his honor at the White Horse.

Sweet!
I just saw this thread and I'm excited it'll be in Chicago!! This is within easy driving distance and means I should be able to attend.

Jim was good enough to introduce me to Papa Dell's at the meet in Champaign this past March, and they make a heck of a pie. But importing pizza to Chicago? Blasphemy!

Papa Del's is great but very different from Chicago deep dish.
In Chicago, I'm a huge fan of Gino's East but if that's too expensive, Lou Malnati's and Giordanos are also good. I've always preferred Lou Malnati's over Giordanos but basically all my friends disagree. Maybe Giordanos is your best bet then.

I and most of my co-workers can't stand Lou Malnati's. Got some at work and almost barfed, that bad (this is far-west burbs). The Papa Del's sounds interesting (shoulda gone to that meet). One of my favorites here, but now closed, was Leonardo's (Naperville).

Have any of my fellow Chicagolanders (or head-fiers) tried Burt's Place in Morton Grove? I have never been, but have been told by several whose opinion (and culinary skill) I trust, that it is worth a pilgrimage. Apparently it's capable of converting the hostile:

I suggest you rename CanJam '10 to FoodJam '10...
