I just wanted to chime in and thank Jim for leading the crew and basically being the driving force to bringing it to Chicago. In fact, we have our 1st meeting on Sunday at Mike's (absorbine's). This week, I am trying to visit some possible venues around ohare to bring some info to the meeting. Our first priority will be to lock in a date and a venue, very soon of course as these places usually lock in their dates around a year in advance, plus or minus. Billy and I will be able to do a lot of the scouting and leg work required especially in the chicagoland area. Thanks Jim for having me be a small part of the process.
On Sunday, I plan on bringing my laptop, which has Skype capabilities on it. If any of the current or past canjam planners would like to teleconference with us on Sunday, please PM me with your contact info, and we would love to have your input on our initial meeting.

Excellent news! I've never been to Chicago and this is just about as good a reason as any to go.
I will definitely plan to be there.

Well said Ryan, many thanks to Jim for his initial efforts and for everything that lies ahead.

Excellent news, indeed. I grew up about 100 miles from Chicago, so hopefully I'll be able to drag some folks along to this one.

In keeping with my tradition of making every other International Meet, count me in. I am also happy to lend a hand in any way I can, even during the Meet itself despite the fact that I will be useless.
And Chicago is a great place to do it; a great city. But is there a time during the year in which O'Hare is NOT engulfed in thunderstorms or blizzards? That's when to schedule this thing.

I'm ready to register and book a room right now. Anyone up for a Route 66 LA to Chicago road trip for CanJam '10?

Count me in Erik.

Chicago sounds fun!
A couple suggestions: Try to find a venue which has many smaller rooms to bring the noise level down per room. When evaluating rooms, look for carpeting on the floor and preferably some sort of damping on the walls (curtains, drapes). This all helps makes the rooms quieter.
