Same here, Vicki ... I'm going to SFO Wed, then leaving from LAX on Monday.
Believe that DOTU is the bus meister so we are in good hands.

No! Curl up in a chair at the airport, and we'll pick you up on the way out of town.
Actually, Dan, there is talk of leaving SF on Thursday, so you may be literally and figuratively missing the bus.
Perhaps there will be more than one departure to accommodate stragglers such as yourself. On the other hand, an extra day for me to have fun in the bay area would suit just fine. I'm thinking that the excursion is a work in progress, and if you whine and whimper enough, consideration may be given.

I'll almost for sure be following the bus in my motorhome/trailer rig. The main problem will be figuring out where to park it once in the LA area. I can't imagine the hotel would be happy about having me take up about 15 parking spaces, or whatever 83' would consume. But I'm definitely wanting to do the SF to LA journey if the logistics can be figured out.

I'm thinking that the " strip club" that the original photo was take from would be a dandy spot to park your rig. You might even make a few bucks off of it when you're not there!

What original photo?
Seriously, the problem is that I don't know either the Bay area or the LA area and don't want to get myself into unnecessary trouble. I could come to the LA area directly and park the rig at a truck stop or RV park somewhere off of an interstate, and then drive to the meet in my Dodge pick up truck. But that would be boring.

The photo's here;
Can Jam 2009 Date and Location Announcement
You should just call the hotel and ask them. I'm sure you're not the first one to have a large rig that's staying there. I've seen some places with a special parking area just for RV's or if not, they usually "cone off" an area to reserve it for you (I'm sure they charge but so would an RV park). There's so many families doing the cross country road trip and LA is a major destination for that kinda thing that I'm sure it's nothing special.

Not a bad idea. It was worth a shot anyway. I just called and the only parking that they have is underground. Obviously, some clearance issues there!
I asked if there were any other businesses within a mile of the hotel that might be able to accommodate me, but apparently it's mostly hotels and restaurants. I know from experience that if I'm creative enough, there will always be someplace where I can physically fit, but the issue is leaving it unattended.
Oh well, if nothing else, I can park out of town somewhere and come in to do a scouting trip. If I can't figure out where to park it nearby, then I'll just get a room.
Generally the best game plan is to avoid major metro areas altogether, or to use the Dodge or Atom to do any side trips. I'll figure something out.

I did not see this back and forth on timing for the run down to CanJam from NorCal, so sorry for being out of the loop. Gene got it right, though, because the plan had been to head to LA Thursday during the day for fun time down there. If there is a better chance people can do this on Friday, then we may have to let Numbers head down solo on Thursday to be Meet Meister.
Anybody in NorCal who might be interested in a bus ride or something similar down to LA, please post your preference here for timing of departure to LA and return to SF. Leaving on Sunday would be somewhat miserable and would miss a good chunk of the action, but we might as well see who is up for what.

My hotel reservation is for Friday through Monday, so I won't have any lodging on Thursday night. I would hop on this bus if it leaves on Friday and return on Monday, but I'll let the majority determine the schedule. If it doesn't fit with mine, no biggie, I'll just drive down or carpool with someone else.
Will the bus make stops along the way for pickups? I live in Sunnyvale and it will be a major problem for me to find a place in SF to leave my car for 4 days.
Also, any guesstimate on the cost?

Looks like I'll be cashing in some Southwest Rapid Rewards and, in the true spirit of DIY, couch surfing in LA.
For those of you who'd rather spend your money on gear instead of hotel rooms, check out CouchSurfing - Participate in Creating a Better World, One Couch At A Time I've used it extensively on bike trips up and down the east coast, and twice last week in Seattle.

I'll ask my contact at the Hotel today Wayne, although it would be epic to work something out with their neighbor for parking. You could have lap dances done in the RV.

Sent Wayne a PM today about an RV storage place very close to the hotel. One of these days he's going to start paying me a salary for being his personal secretary.....
I still think he's insane though for driving an 83' rig all the way through LA.

Wayne and Matt, I called the Hotel today and we may be able to use the Nutragena company HQ parking lot over the weekend but there may be a fee.
