I have feeling that if they're as good as Jude and Tyll say, there's going to be more than the couple of pairs that Senn will bring with them. The timing is just about perfect for first deliveries in March, then a quick sell out in April and a new batch in May. So the real trick is going to be hear a pair that's nice and broken in.

When will the air travel and hotel package be announced and set up for people to lay their money down? Do you think we will get more than 50 people to attend? I am kind of waiting for the list to hit the 30 or 50 mark before I sign up. Scottsmrnyc

Well, you can add one more to the list of those that will show up. Of course it's easy for me to do geographically, as I only live 55 miles away. The 31st is also my son's 20th birthday, and as he loves head fi almost as much as I do, I'm pretty sure that we can be at least two to enjoy the festivities. Plus I have two audiophile friends that I plan on convincing to come as well. So, maybe four right here.

Btw, is it generally kept quiet like a golf course so that we can listen to open headphones in peace? Or are open headphones and leaky closed headphones kinda useless here?

Open and closed headphones were used at the October meet and people are talking all around you.
It's not ideal listening conditions but you're not going to care. You're going to meet a bunch of people, get to talking and have a great time.

The noise level of these big meets varies quite a bit. Early on Saturday the noise level will be real high as folks are getting set up and catching up with buddies. This levels out a little till the end of the day when raffles and other Headfi business is conducted. I usually figure out what I really want to listen to and check it out around lunch time when the crowd thins and lots of mouths are filled with food.
Sundays are quieter as a general rule. There are less set ups since some folks will only be there Saturday. I found it a great time to check out the vendors offerings. Not as many people waiting in line and the more relaxed atmosphere lets you do a little Q&A with the dealers.

Yes and no. Early Saturday can be good because the hungover have not yet risen.

The room set ups and locations were decided with maximizing the HP experience. Now having said that, if you have ever attended a meet before you will know that the headphone crowd is a talky bunch. Asking meet attendees to keep quiet is probably not a good idea....

We had nearly fifty people attending the so Cal meet last year so I think it is a good bet that CanJam 2009 will far exceed that.
Due to the complexity of trying to estimate who would fly from where it didn't make sense to try to organize travel packages. So are on your own for travel accomodations.

The green demarcations Edwood did for the October '08 meet at the LAX Hilton, which now those green labels will be meaningless for Can Jam '09. Here's the Can Jam '09 space we've secured at the Hilton -- all the Catalina rooms (A, B, C, & D), Newport rooms (A, B, C, & D), Santa Monica rooms (A, B, & C), San Lorenzo B & C rooms, and Century A/B for the guest speakers and musical performers. Each room has fixed walls with no adjoining doors between the rooms, providing great noise isolation plus the relatively low ceiling, thick wallpaper, walls and carpeting absorbs a great deal of the ambient noises within each room. Based off the test run October meet, bleed over/through from the rooms is minimal to non-existent especially with the doors closed.

+1 here. This was my first event I'd ever attended. I was not sure what to expect but I was surprised at how overall quiet the rooms were.
Heck they were so quiet Ray commented on what i was listening to from across the room.

The typical two-day LA meets have drawn well over 50 visitors in the past, so Can Jam should have no trouble well surpassing that mark.

Wow, seeing the massive number of rooms set up for Can Jam is amazing. So many goodies are going to be lying in there. Makes me almost want to go regardless if I end up wanting a headphone set up or not.

Thanks for the information about taking care of my own travel arrangements. I hope you will be posting a running list of those people who have already committed to coming. If so, when the list gets to around 30 or 40 people, I will then make my travel plans. Please post such a list as it would make my life and other headfiers who might fly in a little easier and such a list has been posted in the previous Headfests/canjams which I have attended. Thanks Scottsmrnyc
