Default Should I try the 8's as a replacement for the 9's

I purchased the Sen HD-800 recently and returned them shortly after. I still prefered my Ed 9's but the Sens had a midrange that I long for now. I could never be fully happy with the HD-800 because of the lack of bass and sterile sound. (flame suit engaged) I am wondering if the 8's would fit the bill. From the limited discriptions I've read they seam to have more of a foward mid range and the bass bump does not extend through the entire low range when compared to the 9's. The 8's are also faster.

What would I be giving up in switching from the 9's to the 8's?

What would I be gaining?

I am probably going to purchase the 8's anyway from a vendor that has a return policy. I would not want to do this though if there was a strong possibility I will still prefer my 9's. Even though a portion of my pay check goes directly to the vendor

Any comments or opinions please

You've basically answered your own question. Like really. I have very little to add.

Here's my shoot-out between the two:

Thank you for your insightful review!

I find the 9's well suited for my pin head. I wear them at least 2 hours a day just commuting. So comfort is not an issue with me.

I listen to heavy metal, classic rock and Rap. At times ,I do find the bass bump to be distracting. Thus I think the 8's might work better. I also own the RPX-33

I think I am having a mental battle with myself. If the 8's are better than the 9's, shouldn' t they be called the 10's?

Exactly as discribed.

The bass overhang of the 9's would obscure midrage details. These 8's are very revealing
