well that's weird. I made a trade with him once and it went fine, no problems.

i traded some grado sr-80's, eggos, and some other odds n ends for a set of etymotic ER4S.

sorry to hear y'all having problems with him now.

williamgoody, if you're out there, now would be a good time to speak up.

Default I also have been swindled by williamgoody

Here are some excerpts from the PMs I exchanged with williamgoody:

williamgoody wrote on 08-14-2003 08:40 PM:
What might you be looking for for the AKGs? Any interest in a portable amp for a trade?

williamgoody wrote on 08-15-2003 07:12 PM:
I'll do the trade with the serpac amp if you want [Serpac Meta 42 (AD8610's, 1 9V), JMT built]

greenhorn wrote on 08-15-2003 06:33 PM:
OK then. Let's do it :-)
Please give me your shipping address, so that I can send you the headphones tomorrow.

williamgoody wrote on 08-16-2003 12:44 AM:
I'll have it out to you tomorrow morning as well.
Bill

greenhorn wrote on 09-08-2003 05:01 AM:
Hi, Bill,
I hope you have received the AKGs and that you like them.
I haven't yet received your amp, when did you send it?
Thanks!

williamgoody wrote on 09-08-2003 01:53 PM:
Hi, Max,
I sent the amp about a day after we said we were going to.
The AKG's are fine.

greenhorn wrote on 09-08-2003 08:34 AM:
Hi, Bill,
How long did it take for the AKGs to arrive?

williamgoody wrote on 09-08-2003 02:51 PM:
I believe it was around two or two and a half weeks.

greenhorn wrote on 09-09-2003 03:52 PM:
A terrible idea crosses my mind: you did not ship it "surface", did you???

williamgoody wrote on 09-10-2003 03:31 PM:
Nope, it went air, like you asked.

greenhorn wrote on 09-16-2003 12:29 PM:
Hi, Bill,
The amp still did not arrive. It's a month today since you have sent it. As you can imagine, I am now very seriously worried.

williamgoody wrote on 09-17-2003 12:12 AM:
Hey Max,
If you want, I'll send the phones back to you.

greenhorn wrote on 09-17-2003 06:02 PM:
Hi, Bill,
Thanks. Let's wait for a couple more days. I strongly hope that it will finally arrive [the amp]...

greenhorn wrote on 09-25-2003 10:13 AM:
Hi, Bill,
The amp did not arrive.
I will therefore have to accept your kind offer to send me the headphones back.

williamgoody wrote on 09-26-2003 02:26 PM:
OK man, you got it. I'll have them back to you this weekend.

greenhorn wrote on 10-07-2003 08:58 PM:
Hi, Bill,
Did you send them?
Thanks!

williamgoody wrote on 10-09-2003 06:49 PM:
Hey Max, they're on the way, shipped and insured, so that this time if something happens, we at least get the cost back.

---------------
I never received them and williamgoody does not reply to my PMs anymore.

Let's recapitulate:

1) I send him a pair of headphones, he's supposed to send me an amp in exchange.
2) He receives the headphones (and confirms it), I do not receive the amp.
3) He proposes to send me the headphones back; I accept. He says he has sent them *insured* - again, I do not receive anything.
4) He doesn't reply to PMs anymore.

I did in the last 5-6 years very many deals with the US (at least 60 or 70 deals, via ebay and outside ebay, including via this forum) and no problems of this kind occurred, NEVER!!!

I therefore conclude that williamgoody is a LIAR and a THIEF.

It's rather strange to read williamgoody's profile (today 10-12-2003), which includes *both* the pair of AKG K-340 and the Meta 42 Serpac:

ME too. Bill promise me to trade Philips DVD963SA to my DT880 + some cash. However, I wait and wait for 2 months, nothing had arrived. He said the package may lose, therefore I ask him for refund, then he did not reply my message.

I think it is private stuff, however after I read all you guy experience, I think we all on the SAME boat. I guess we better to report this to Jude or something.

(Since Bill had all good feedbacks before, so I trust him. Now I think Bill cheat on us.)

P.S: I can prove this by all my PM history and paypal invoice.

Also, we better report this to Jude or other moderators.

Default williamgoody

I purchased a creative nomad jukebox from williamgoody (quite some time ago) and the transaction went extremely smoothly.

I am posting this experience because of concern expressed by other members. I was not affected in a negative way by the transaction, but, read on if you have time...

I had messaged williamgoody about the item after reading a for sale post he made, which was quite old, but hadn't been marked with a "sold" post yet. He said it was still available, so I paypal'ed and received it in a timely manner.

Once I found out the nomad wasn't compatible with my operating system, I immediately put it back up for sale in the forum. Oddly enough the first person to message me was williamgoody, asking if I wanted to trade something for else for it. No big deal, we audionuts are a fickle group, and william obviously has alot of equipment. I didn't think it was suspsicious until I talked to another member, whose experience was conveyed below.

I mentioned that to him that I really wanted to get cash for it, because there wasn't anything I was really looking for at the time. So a day or two goes by, and a head-fier from singapore (whose name I can't recall) pm's me wanting to buy the unit. I was weary of shipping it overseas, but told him that if he had someone in the states I could mail it to, that I would do that. Then he mentioned to me that he knew shipping overseas was risky, and that he had just bought an identical nomad jukebox from (guess who, williamgoody) and had been informed by him that it was "lost in the mail."

He was not bitter towards william, and assumed (partially due to immaculate feedback) that william was honest and had actually sent the unit.

I confronted williamgoody about the scenario (and informed an administrator that something fishy was going on) and william claimed that he had two units, and was not lying about having shipped the unit.

That is where the whole discussion ended, the moderator wasn't obligated to do anything, especially since the victim wasn't even pursuing the matter, being trustworthy enough to assume william had shipped it. William also told me that this was the last time he would ever ship something out of the US because of the hassle it had caused. II know he has been involved in overseas transactions since then, however.

An interesting story nonetheless, just added for completeness due to the rash of recent inquiries.

I also has a not so positive experience with Bill. I was selling my Beyer DT931 when he said he wanted to buy it and wanted to pay in three installments. I said i can wait 1 week for him to pay in full and i'll ship the headphone out. Another member wanted to buy it right away but since I already promised Bill so i didn't sell it to that member. One week later i pm him and he told me that he completely forgot about it. I felt very doubtful about it since he had asked me for threading the Beyer with his stuff for sometimes even before I posted it in the sell forum. I didn't have problem that he backed out but when he said he forgot about it didn't sound convincing for me.

Update!

It seems that UPS delivered to the wrong address. So the bad is really on my side. I'd like to officially apologize to Bill and retract any statements I might have made about him that would cause others to be warry to do business with him. The fault is with UPS, not Bill.

Bill, you have my official apologies.

That being said, i'm also sorry for any poor communication that might've exagerated this situation. And i'm also sorry that it's taken me so long (nearly 10 days from first hearing from Bill that the package never arrived) to check with UPS, and i'm sorry It took me forever to get you your tracking number. I must've overlooked that in the PM, I know, i'm a total trade n00b. Throughout this whole deal Bill has been nothing but friendly.

P.S. As JPELWG said I would advise *anyone* ship USPS Priority mail, fully insured (usually for more, actually), and with Delivery Confirmation. The last feature costs only 45 cents(!) and gives me web tracking capability too. Cheapest insurance.

Again, a thousand apologies to all those involved. I don't know *what* the heck is happening, but in my opinion, the fault is not really with Bill. Rather, the insane mail system that is UPS.

MODERATOR ALERT:

This is a TRANSACTION FEEDBACK thread, NOT a discussion thread. If you want to discuss Head-Fi policy, this is not the place for it. This is also not the place to "call out" a member with whom you're unhappy.

All posts that weren't directly related to a particular transaction -- and multiple posts for the same transaction -- have been moved. (We're currently deciding what to do with them.) If you have a problem with this, this thread is not the place to discuss it.

Please post only a SINGLE message regarding a transaction. Explain SPECIFICALLY what happened for that transaction. If things change, or you have updated info, edit your post accordingly.

Posting over and over, or ranting on and on, makes the feedback forum worthless.

CLARIFICATION: This is NOT to keep negative feedback from appearing. As Jude has said, we want both positive and negative feedback, and encourage members to post honestly. However, we also want feedback threads to be fair to the seller, and useful to the other members, and having 20 posts that are discussion about forum policy, and 10 posts by the same person ranting about a single transaction make these threads worthless and take away from all the other messages in the thread.

Post all your comments and details in a single post. As I mentioned above, edit that post as necessary to reflect changes or new developments. Let's keep this forum useful.

Thank you.

Default Don't trust Bill

Bill seems to have many ongoing problems in life that is effecting his honesty. Bill contacted me about trading for my amp.I wasn't interested in a trade, but since he wanted the amp,I shipped him my porta corda II on a payment plan.Even though our first deal wasn't a good one,I still believe in giving people a second chance.
I shipped the amp and for10 days Bill said he didn't recieve it. I checked the delivery confirmation and learned he recieved it with-in 3 days. When I notified Bill of this he still denied recieving it and said he will talk with the Post office the next day. Bill didn't get back to me the next day.
When I PM'd Bill stating I didn't appreciate his childish way of handling my concerns, he acted as if nothing was wrong and said he would send me a check when he gets paid.
I told Bill communication is very important to me and he needs to stay in touch considering the generous arrangement I made with him. Thats where things started to get ugly. From that point on,the PM's became rude.Bill acted as though his problems in life excused him from being honest.

BOTTOM LINE-

I caught Bill in a lie and he didn't like it. He said to be patient, that I will get my F**king money.
What choice did I have but to give him some time. What few PM's transpired after that were either more crying about his problems,or trying to make me out as the bad guy.
I would have been more sympathetic, but as I said,he lied ,so that set the tone until the deal is over.

I started a sale add to publicly notify other members about Bills thieving ways to see if others that have been ripped off would also come forth.
It worked,as other negative feedback is now posted. Thank-you to the members for acknowledging Bill is a rip-off artist.
In my experience with Bill, and what I have read in other posts,

----------------------------STAY CLEAR OF BILL.-------------------------
----------------------------- Spread the word.----------------------------

11/21/03 UPDATE,,,,,Since early September, there has been no communication from Bill, and of course no payments.

No messages get 'destroyed' and the original contents of this thread are of no exception...

but to the best of my knowledge the posts that were removed were ones by people who were re-iterating problems experienced... as said by MacDEF above, only one post per person needs to be entered, and can easily be editied to reflect further problems / remedies.

Thanks

williamgoody had agreed to buy some items from me, but asked for me to hold them for a couple weeks. About three weeks later -- to be fair, because of this thread -- he pulled out of the deal.

I can't comment on the transaction itself, because, well, it never happened
