Somewhere in january I ordered a black mini moy and a mini-mini interconnect from drew. Two weeks later I got a package containing a Maxi moy singnature a US power supply, but no cable. So I e-mailed drew, he was quick and friendly, and he said that he would send me a EU power supply for free, nothing was said about the interconnect, but I got an amplifier 2.5x the price I paid. Being interconnectless I ordered a teflon/silver interconnect (+shipping).

And that was when it became weird. He didn't reply my e-mails anymore ( I tried 2 diffrent e-mail addresses) and after 2 and a half months I have yet to receive my interconnect and power supply.

I'm hoping there is a way to get my money back, I have bought a 220->110 transformer and a cheap interconnect, so I don't need the interconnect and power supply anymore. I'm never going to buy anything from him again, and I suggest others won't either.

Default Taken for an expensive ride by Shellbrook Audio Labs

I upgraded my Ascent to an Ascent II last Dec. 10, 2005 because my Ascent smoked. I returned the the Ascent to Drew for credit and paid the balance for an Ascent II plus some extra cables for a total of $668. I have tried to contact Drew via email scores of times from January through today as well as telephone him dozens of times. To date I have not received 1 response from Drew. My conclusion - he defrauded me. Consequently, on Monday, I plan to contact the Meridian, ID police to file a complaint.

I am hoping that Drew sees this before Monday and acts on it.

Please post or PM me.

Default Ripped off by Drew Dunn? file a postal complaint!

I just stumbled upon this website and I am glad to know (but yet sad) that i'm not alone; Mr. Dunn has ripped off a LOT of other people out there.

My story begins in January. I ordered the Maxi Moy amp. He said he sent it at the end of January. It vanishes off of the planet. He says he will send me another as soon as he gets the new boards in. New boards come in Feb. and are totally defective. Then begins the total downward spiral. At first he was answering my emails and I have a standing practice of not to be threatening, or agressive unless absolutely necessary, but in retrospect I was too nice.

Well, after noticing that his website had not been updated for a while, as well as the order status, and it now being MARCH, I try and try again to get in touch with him. I sent several emails to EVERY SINGLE EMAIL ADDRESS he had on his site and calling him on his cell phone. No response.

I continue till sometime in early April where I just give up. I was nice and actually gave him the benefit of the doubt and held off filing a paypal complaint against him till it was too late (45 days). He has not responded to me through the paypal system. I have sent him several money requests through paypal with no response. I KNOW he has to get those emails, as that's how he gets his money. He even states on his website that his "problem" with paypal is now fixed. I guess the "problem" was that he was getting too many complaints.

Anyhoo, It's now five months since I ordered and still no response. I see that he has new orders in his que, hopefully those poor saps won't have the same horrific experience I have had.

Lastly, at this point, I really don't care about any of Drew Dunn's excuses, or apologies that I have read on this board. I think it is absurd that an Engineer would be so incompetent as to have every single one of his email addresses fail and his phone fail OVER A SEVERAL MONTH TIME PERIOD, while running a business.

I saw someone in a previous post wanting to send him a registered letter. Forget that. File an online complaint with the US postal service. If he gets more than two complaints the inspectors will pay him a visit. Don't waste any more money on this guy.

Default More Shellbrook Woes. Please be careful before buying from this merchant!

All, pardon the length of this post but I feel it is necessary.

It is too bad that I never read this thread before I made a purchase. I also love to support small business and HATE to bad mouth anyone in public. However at this point I am very frustrated and am out of other options, and only hope that others will read this and not have the same problems.

On 11/4/05 I ordered a Hybrid Head, Maxi Muoy Signature, and an interconnect cable. The total for my order was $535. I still have received nothing (SIX AND A HALF MONTHS LATER) and have not heard back from Drew since 12/19.

Drew was, as has been mentioned in other posts, VERY friendly and quick to respond to initial questions. The hybrid head was a gift for my father. He offered to put a mini port on the Hybrid Head for me free of charge, and said that he'd try to have it for me ASAP since I had a special occasion to give the gift coming up. He really seemed like a great guy.

I contacted him on 12/4 and he told me that he was about a week behind schedule, but that my dad's amp would ship the following morning. On 12/12 I had still received no notice of shipment, so I sent him an email (no response). On 12/19 I received 3 emails via paypal that 2 packages had been registered for shipment and then that one had been canceled (with note "changed mind"). Nothing ever shipped.

I have been very patient and I have tried calling him dozens of times, but I have not received anything from him since the standard 45 days of paypal refund expired. He has also ignored about a half dozen emails from me. I really am very confused as to what is going on with him, but if I don't hear anything soon I will have to proceed with further measures.

All I want right now is a refund (although I would still take the amps if they work as described). I don't know if I can go as far as to say that he has defrauded me of my money, but I am starting to feel that way.

Also, I have noticed that he is banned from this forum, which doesn't speak well about him.

This is EXACTLY the situation I'm in now. I bought the Maxi Head signature and receive no interconnect and a US power supply, even though I asked him BEFORE I purchased it if the power supply would work in Australia.

Several emails later I'm stull without a reply about anything. Your guys in the U.S. may be ok dealing with him, but international people beware! He doesn't deliver on what he promises.

Default Keeping my fingers crossed

I found this thread too late... I've already ordered and paid. He's only a week late so far, and I did get an email yesterday saying it would go out "in the morning." Seen a lot of that one on here. Doesn't matter, I have to leave town Monday for 2 weeks so I have no choice but to wait.

Interesting though, his Ebay seller feedback is 100% positive. How can that be?

Update: Drew missed his original ship date of 5/23 and his next ship date of 5/27.
Emailed him on 5/31 and requested my amp be delivered this week. No response. He has never listed me on his order status page, although some new names have appeared there.

6/02 Emailed Drew and asked for a refund. He responded and asked me to be patient a while longer, that my amp was ready and would go out 6/03. I agreed.

6/05 Received "Click-N-Ship" notification. Order status page subsequently added my name with notation Shipped 6/01.

6/10 USPS delivered the amp today, a Mini Head Signature. It appears to be a work of art, visually and sonically.

As I conclude this I have to say that my only complaint against Drew is his eagerness to quote shipping dates that are not realistic. This amp is a beauty and if you can stand the suspense, I'd say go for it.

The facts: I bought (as a gift for my boyfriend) a Black Maxi Moy Signature from Shellbrook Labs on December 31, 2005. Expected shipping date was soon listed as 01/13/2006.
On 01/31/2006, I e-mailed Drew asking for the status of the amplifier. He answered: “I expect to have your amplifier finished this week”. Few days later on Shellbrook’s website the status changed from “testing” to “waiting for parts” (PCB issues as you can see on the news page of Shellbrook site where I’m still listed).
On Wednesday, 03/01/2006, I mailed Drew again, asking again for the status. The answer: “You can expect an email with the shipping details by Saturday afternoon”.
Having NOT received any shipping detail from Drew, I mailed him for the 3rd time on 03/10/2006 asking again for the status. Since then, I haven’t received any response from him, only silence (I’m sending a mail per day). Do you think 3 months isn’t enough? All this time I have been kind and comprehensive and I understand things that can't be avoided happen but my patience is wearing thin, and I’m beginning to feel frauded. The only reality, at the moment, is that I’m under of 245 USD. Excuse me for my poor english, I hope I’ve made the facts clear. I will edit and post any further updates, of course.
UPDATE
Two days ago, on 5/27/2006 after 6 MONTHS, has arrived to me, a strange “hybrid”, composed by the inside of the new Maxi Head, and the outside cover of the old Maxi Moy Signature.
Furthermore, this “frankenstein”, LACKS the claimed OPA 627 (very expensive, in Italy its price is 45-50 USD) on left and right channel and instead is equipped with standard OPA 227 (cheaper). Its AC adapter is a recycled cheapo type (branded Compaq) which is rated for 120V (Since I made the order, I’ve always asked for a power supply rated for 220 V; I live in Europe, Italy, for now I have to use alkaline batteries to run the amp), the supplied cable is the standard version, not the promised “premium silver cable”, and last but not least, when I play music the LEFT CHANNEL DISTORTS, in other words, the amp is DEFECTIVE. I've been kind and comprehensive for 6 months, now I’m really pissed off and I'm feeling frauded. I ask to Drew a FULL REFUND of 245 USD I paid 6 months ago. If I don’t get any response from him I’ll file complaints with:
PayPal
Better Business Bureau (bbb.org)
U.S. Postal Inspection Service
Italian Postal Police
Internet Crime Complaint Center (ic3.gov)
Meridian, ID, Police Department
I will edit and post any further updates.
