I'm not going to go into my story as they are so similar to everyone else here. I called the Meridian police dept. today and explained my situation. They said it doesn't seem like outright fraud since I returned one of my amps from this guy for repari and never came back and it's only a $100 amp. However, I'm thinking if I send this thread to the detective, it may perk their interest up a little more. Looks like some others have tried contacting Meridian police as well. Any luck? I'm calling BBB of Meridian tomorrow as well.
According to a statement dated 6/15/06 on his website, Drew has discontinued taking any new orders until sometime around July 4 while he works to resolve the issues that some of you are still having.
I plan to contact the Meridian police on Monday concerning my situation. I sent an Ascent amp back for credit last Dec 2005 to upgrade to an Ascent II. I am out $668. If the Meridian police don't take an interest, I plan to pay money to have my lawyer press the local District Attorney to do something as well as contact the FBI and Attorney General. Eventually, I believe they will have no choice but to arrest this guy.
I have had an interesting experience with Drew over the last year. Suffice it to say, my Ascent was delivered (late), and then died about 3 weeks later. My free upgrade to the "first Ascent II" has not been fulfilled and I have not received any communication from Drew since January 7th, 2006. I am still on the website with a status of "building", but it seems that many other orders have appeared and moved all the way to "shipped" since my status changed. I finally complained to the United States Postal Service and the Better Business Bureau in ID. Drew has not responded to either organization as of yet. I was surprised to discover that I was the only BBB complaint!
Obviously, from this forum and others, there have been many people that have had difficulties with his company. Why hasn't anybody spent the 10 minutes it takes to fill out the online complaint form? I would think that if more of the dissatisfied customers took this easy step, we might all see some resolution. I encourage anyone that has lost all faith and patience in Shellbrook and Drew to take some action and fill out a BBB complaint. What can you lose? 10 minutes of time? The form can be found here : http://complaint.bbb.org/
Well, all, after 8 months I finally got what I ordered (mostly). The hybrid head came as asked and works great. As described by someone above, he used cheaper capacitors for my maxi moy signiture than those promised. And the audio cable he said he would make me is not in the box.
However, you have to give it to the guy, he makes a great product. They really do sound and look phenominal - the workmanship is top class. It's too bad he really can't run a business, because if he could I would love to see what he could turn out. Unless something goes wrong with the units, this will probably be my last post here for a while. Good luck to all who have outstanding orders, all I can say is be patient and I hope it turns out well in the end
Quick update, I finally got all squared away with Drew. He finally sent me a replacement, but didn't work (naturally). He replaced that one within 2 weeks and I think I'm finally a happy camper. After I put the call into the Meridian police, I sent him an e-mail titled so, and it got his attention pretty quick. I may have stretched things a little about their interest in his shenanigans, but, hey, it worked! After trading some e-mails back and forth, he tried stating that he was going through some depression stuff over the past year, and now has a full-time assistant to help build amps. I told him, "man, you make a great product, but your customer service and follow-up sucks." It really is a shame.
After 8 months I finally got my Maxi Head Signature, short of its 220V rated power supply (I'll buy one), but fully functional and with the correct op-amps.
I have to admit this is a great headamp that makes my HD-650 fly.
I'm right so.
Finally received my Ascent II but no linear power supply and cables that were ordered with the amp. The balance defrauded is probably in the $300-400 price range. Tried contacting Drew with no success. I've had enough. Reported the incident and provided written statements to the Meridian Police and the FBI.
