This is 100% honest eval -- I don't know him, never met him, no connection -- just got a tip and bought my first cable from him, and I was hooked for life.
All I can say is... WOW!!! I contacted Randy because I had received one of his cables as par6 of a deal with another H-F'er. I thought the cable was defective (it wasn't), Randy asked me to send it back to test/repair, and he continuously refused my offers to pay for any work he would have to do on the cable (which I thought was only fair since I got them second-hand). As stated, the cable turned out to be fine (great, even), but Randy sent another cable to test my gear, and that cable, too was great.
But the real fun came when I asked Randy to build me some custom cables for my home set-up. The cables he built are absolutely incredible-- they opened up a whole new level of detail and openness in my system, even though they were replacing ALO products AND even though I stuck a component (Aphex 204 processor) in the middle of the rig, which I'm sure degrades the signal even when in bypass mode. The quality of the cables and the obvious care Randy took in making them are incredible.
Even more incredibly, I ordered the cables from Randy on a Friday, and had them in my sweaty little hands the following Tuesday! And that was for FOUR separate cables, each of which was custom built.
ordered my first custom cable from brainsalad. it's a mini to Rca to connect my soundcard to my amp.
this is my 1st purchase from any headfier and im glad it was from randy.. i sent message to a couple of cable makers here... and after considering all factors (price, communication, materials, pictures sample) i decided to bet it on randy. and mate, it was a good bet...
i am no expert yet on these cabling.. but from what i can tell.. Brainsalad mini to RCA and my previous Belkin Pure AV is ... id say day n night different... simply worth every premium.. items arrived fast.. build quality excellent, and communications were smooth and prompt.. Brainsalad will definitely comes on top of my mind next time i have any cabling needs...
My first time ever purchasing connectors. I looked around on this forum and kept on hearing the same name over and over again. Randy at BrainSalad. All I can say is he is an incredibly nice guy and a pleasure to deal with. His name will be the first thing that comes to mind when ever I go looking for connectors in the future!
Randy is the man! I was referred to him in my search for a mini-mini interconnect for my iPod to FiiO amp. He was ridiculously helpful and kind to me, and our communication was amazing before my order was placed. We discussed cable materials, aesthetics, length, etc in great detail and the morning after we finalized the order he built the cable and shipped it off. I received it in 3 days and couldn't be happier. It looks beautiful and I really love the braided sleeving on it too! Definitely going to hit Randy up for my LOD and future cables in the future. Thanks!
