This is excellent news, it'll be good to have a direct comparison of the 1.2 1.3 and HE-90 all run from the same amp in near ideal conditions to see where these really stand. Of course, I haven't heard any of the three, but like everyone else, have heard endless praise of the Senn so if they are even in the same general league it'll be impressive. I may even be able to afford the HE 1.3 depending on results.
I already want an O2, TakeT, and W5000. Now this comes along as a potential suitor too Choices choices...

I'm looking forward to hearing these in Mayberry in a couple of weeks. I'll reserve judgment on them until then. I don't care much for the looks but also don't care much how my headphones look as long as they sound good. If they do and they seem to be well constructed, I will probably pick up a pair. I've come close to ordering them a few times already. Based upon the pics, I think I prefer the look of the 1.2 but I'll wait and see.

Assuming you two haven't already tried them, may I suggest some alternatives to Patron Silver? Their quality and flavor profile have proven superior at tastings.
1921 Blanco
7 Leguas Blanco
Casa Noble Blanco
El Tesoro de Don Felipe Platinum
The El Tesoro will probably be priced right around the Patron Silver, maybe a few dollars cheaper. The other three though will probably be $5-10 more per bottle.
These suggestions are all assuming that you'll are sipping it neat(no lime, salt, mixer, etc.). If making margaritas the Patron Silver is perfectly fine, although the Cazadores Silver makes on just as good, if not better, and costs less than the Patron.
If anyone is interested, you'll should join us on the Ian Chadwick's tequila discussion forum? We have a huge collective of tequila enthusiasts from around the world, including the CEO's of Jose Cuervo, Casa Noble, El Tesoro, 4 Copas, and various others. It's a great place for information if you're as obsessed with the blue agave plant as I am. We've got Tequila, Mezcal, and motorcycles.
I go by "greens" over there if you should ever drop by.

You are quite welcome Gary. I hope you're able to find them locally, especially the 1921. It is superb. Enjoy!

When I get paid for writing it is usually for 2000 words (thank goodness Microsoft Word counts for you).
With an offer like this that really tickles my fancy, I promise 2001 words
Breakout my old issues of Stereophile and the Thesauraus
Thanks Gary...you know I'll repay the favor somehow. You da man!

Even though I have my issues I'm thinking about getting a set but the call of speakers is ever increasing. For 1k$ I can get a M-L CLS or a KLH Model Nine shipped up here. I've been reading "Quad: The Closest Approach" lately and it isn't helping...

And I thought you had issues with M-L CLS's as well! But at 1k$ delivered I can understand you moving that way. Plenty of 'tweaks' available on the Net plus many rate the original CLS's better than the successors (CLS II - CLS IIz).
But what happens if our favorite Stax expert goes speakers???

It's doubtful that the sound you will get from the 1.3 isn't already covered somewhere in the 30 or stat cans you have, go for the speakers.

I could'nt agree more Mike(and Spitzer).As much as I love my HE90's,they just don't compare to properly setup speakers(IMO).Gary.

Speakers and headphones give me equal amounts of joy and I try to share my musical entertainment time between them.

What are speakers? Just kidding , I have yet to even touch that whole journey. I'm still caught up in my new ultrasones!
These actually look pretty nice to me. I agree with duggeh, no where near as fugly as the amt's.

I actually get more Joy when using speakers because my headphones are located too far from my kitchen sink and thus I'm not able to wash the dishes while listening to them. I like Lemon Joy the best.
I suppose I could dig out those extra long Sonic Horizon Hurricane extension cables I have lying around somewhere. I've got a 4 meter and a 7 meter, so when I combine them I can pretty much walk all over the house while listening to headphones (dynamic only, unfortunately).
Not sure I want to mix electronics and water, however. Seems to me that Billy had some problems with that way back when.

The CLS is far from perfect but I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make it that much better. A nice rugged steel frame, suspending them about a foot of the ground would be a start.
I'm not going anywhere soon. I've still got to find some of the rarest headphones in the world before I turn over to the "normal side"...

I have the HE90 and never use it so if it the 1.3 is similar in sound it will most likely suffer the same fate.

I value them both for different reasons, headphones for intimacy and detail retrieval while I value the scale and power of a properly driven speaker. A good ESL can cross this line especially when direct driven like a headphone.
