HeAudio 1.3, 1.2B and the new JADE Stat Headphones
my door rang at 7:15 this morning. it was so early (for the weekend that is) i thought i was dreaming. it rang again. i got up, tried to talk through the intercom, which didn't work, and then buzzed the person in. i waited by the door staring intently through the peephole. i wasn't really expecting anything. who could this person be (an assassin). a man strode down the hallway toward my apartment door. he was carrying a package. i opened the door and he said "David Cohen." i say "yes" and he gave me a clipboard and told me to "sign here."
the package was delivered by EMS. it was from China. Maybe something for my pet panda. i start to open it. wait. better get the camera first, just in case.
slowly opens. what could this be.
a nice looking case with locks and keys.
maybe a clue on the other side.
He Audio EH-1.3 Electrostatic Headphone. this must be why $1000+ left my bank account a few months ago. it all comes back to me. let's get a close up of the nice shiny label.
and open it up.
remove the foam.
left side.
right side.
top.
front.
it's super light and seems fragile - especially the ribbon cable. need to be careful. does it work. i hook it up to my He Audio solid state elctrostatic amp. sound comes out of it. good. i was worried. now to listen. early impressions to follow sometime this weekend.

Seems very interesting indeed, especially since it's an electrostat
Never heard of these...could someone please enlighten me on the manufaturer, specs, anything on these phones? I can't even find a website representing HE Audio.

This will be a fun thread to follow! Congrats, and thanks for taking the plunge. It's always great when someone steps outside of the black box and then shares his experience with everyone here.

Congratulation's but man is it ugly! That grill while being an eyesore is also going to cause some problems with the backwave as it can be partially reflected. I'm glad to see they changed to a ribbon cable though.

I am curious about the connector - a single 4x XLR natuve, with a STAX adapter? Hmmmm - any native STAX termination available?

Congrats!
Construction is vastly different than the prototypes I saw & heard (and almost ordered) last year. Writeups from the last NY meet had these new one's sounding pretty darn good too though.
Eagerly awaiting impressions & comparisons.

When I was thinking of purchasing an older prototype of these, Fang's vendor was still working on fabricating the Stax plug. It was taking a lot of tries to get it right. I guess it's a lot cheaper to diy it than to outsource from Stax.
I imagine the thought behind the XLR plug is that it's cheaper to make different adapters to work with any electrostatic amp, including those with only HE90 plugs like the original Orpheus amp.
