Sum total of mankind’s achievements as a species will be represented to aliens in the form of a Doritos advertisement

There's a quote that should either make you smile or ruin your day. Or at least lighten it as other problems really aren't that bad are they? Read about it here. Ahh almost as funny/depressing as the stat that the number of professionals paid to find and track the orbit of human extinction sized asteroids equals the staff of your average McDonalds. Perspective!

Much like the uproar following NASA’s decision to broadcast a Beatles’ song at the North Star, some scientists started freaking out about aliens getting annoyed and attacking us. Most scientists, however, believe aliens either don’t exist, won’t receive the advertisement, or really like Doritos.

Well it's their money they're throwing away (they must be paying for this). Good luck to them; I doubt they'll get many takers.

I can just imagine members of that species from Star Trek, you know, the really ugly shape-shifters who ingest salt, picking up on that faint transmission, and saying to each other, "Let's go there - they have salty snacks!"

This is why Doritos did it, so people like you will talk about/make internet posts to all of your friends.
Everyone knows about Doritos but the whole reason to keep advertising is too keep their name out there. And if everyone keeps talking about this- then mission accomplished for Doritos.

I don't mind having Doritos speak for me. But only the Cool Ranch ones.

I predict that an alien will come to earth named Cool Ranch, mistaking the Dorito for the dominant species.
