Default Stephen Covey's Win-Win Principle!

OK. This is going to be a quick post. I am reading Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and I am working through the accompanying workbook as well. One of his core principles is to "Think Win-Win." What that means is that people who are of the same mind seek mutual benefit and mutual respect in all interactions. They think in terms of abudance and opportunities. They seek out more trust in others by making deposits in the Emotional Bank Account.

Here is my business idea. Despite all of the headaches and heartaches I have endured (most of which is self inflicted by myself) here at Head-Fi, I am trying my best for the community at large. You guys are still a great bunch of virtual people to chill with. To that end, here is my idea:

Let us start small. I just bought two 256MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM RAM sticks from NewEgg.Com for $84.56 USD. I bought it because my Toshiba 1405-S171 notebook only has 256MB of ram and I am very dead serious about installing both Micro$oft Windows XP Professional SP2 and Fedora Code Linux as a dual boot configuration. The author of Linux for Non-Geeks wrote that 256MB of RAM is the absolute bare minimum but he recommends 384MB or 512MB+ for dual-boot configurations. THAT means my older TWO sticks of 128MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM RAM sticks are useless to me as I only have TWO ram slots on my PC and I can only take up to 512MB of RAM anyways.

So, I'm thinking Win-Win. I will give those two older sticks of 128MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM RAM sticks to any Head-Fi member who has NOT ALREADY BECOME a contributor yet. If you have ANY USE for these two sticks of RAM, then you qualify. But, and there is always a but, you must become a contributing member of Head-Fi by making a minimum donation of at least $25 USD or more (which is the face value of one stick of RAM alone). Jude must confirm that you have become a contributing member by updating the list of contributing members. Once you have contributed and Jude has verified it, then I will send those two sticks of RAM to your home address completely free of charge. I will even pay for USPS Priority Mail shipping.

That's it. You are not obligated to contribute thousands of dollars at all. Just pay for the face value of one ($25 USD) stick of RAM and wait until Jude verifies it. You MUST not have already contributed to Head-Fi as of yet. Obviously, you must also have a need or want for these TWO 128MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM RAM sticks. You also need to be patient. I'm in the middle of juggling full time work and full time studying for my Graduate Record Exam. I just placed the order for the two 256MB ram (512MB total) today so I obviously can't just ship out my only RAM sticks until I get the new ones installed.

Communication is key. If you are serious about this Win-Win deal, then post a reply. No frillers please. That will let me know. I reserve the right to initiate the start date for this special deal as it fits my hectic schedule in the most convenient manner possible. Publicity is what keeps all three parties (me, Jude, and you) honest.

WHY?

WHY AM I DOING THIS?

Because the secret to true wealth is to give it away. I feel that instead of letting two perfectly good 128MB PC2100 DDR SODIMM Kingston brand RAM sticks just sit there and collect dust, why not turn this into an opportunity to apply what I read and study and learn? Why not 1+1 = 3,4,5...? It will benefit the community to see another member become a contributing member. It will benefit the community by showing that despite any foul play with burned deals that went sour, 99.999 percent of us are trustworthy because we are a tight knit community of trustworthy neighbors. Why not put into action Habit #4: Think Win-Win into real action? I'm firmly putting it into action and working toward greater public victory. That means I'm putting more faith and trust in the community at large.

It ain't gonna kill me to give this away financially. It might help out some poor college kid or high school senior who might just have to decide: hmmm...more RAM for my notebook PC so I can do my studying or a CD? Who knows? But, if that same kid can afford to become a contributing member to Head-Fi by investing a minimum $25 USD to the community instead of buying the two sticks of RAM for double the price plus shipping or buying the latest Britney Spears or LL Cool J record, then that will be worth it.

Publicity will keep all parties honest.

Suze Orman teaches: take care of people first (the Head-Fi community and the poor kid who really desperately must choose RAM for computer and studying or CDs, or pot), then money (it ain't gonna kill me to spend $4.50 USD for Priority Mail shipping and I am not only gaining financial literacy / wisdom by putting what I learn into action, and lastly...material things. Like RAM.

So, you decide. This is a great WIN-WIN-WIN opportunity for all parties involved. Minimal effort in time and money is required but mucho honesty and integrity will be tested. Hey, we can even write positive reviews of each other once this deal goes through extremely smoothly and professionally for all parties involved. Publicity will keep us all honest. Check out my feedback. I will hold up my end of this bargain.

Enough. Make your move. I'm monitoring this thread.

edit: I'm truly insane. I got to go exercise now for 20 minutes.

My 512MB PC2100 DDR SO-DIMM RAM will come this upcoming Monday. If it works in my notebook PC, then I will still offer this Think Win-Win deal to a fellow Head-Fi member who agrees to the terms of my deal.

I know this type of RAM is very very old -- it is nearly obsolete by today's standards. I don't even think I can give it away to my family members or relatives who own notebook PCs as a result. So, I still stand by my Think Win-Win deal and I will wait patiently for a Head-Fi member who will agree to my terms and my schedule.

If the RAM I ordered from NewEgg is incompatible, then I reserve the right to abrogate this deal as I attempt to get a full refund for an authorized RMA return for my purchase. Time will tell if this last resort is necessary.
