Question Recommendations for books in the vein of Voltaire's Candide?

I first picked up Candide at a yard sale almost a decade ago. Through the years, the book has maintained its relevance to me; I still enjoy it as much now as I first did when I was a wee lad of 13.

Now, I'm looking for something in the same vein - something philosophical which is funny yet deep, eternal in it's message and with some memorable phrases ("it's all for the best in this best of all worlds" is one of my favourite quotes).

Suggestions, anyone?

I think you should give a try to Montesquieu's "Lettre persane"

Not sure what would be similar to Candide, but here's a bunch of online books I found recently, you might be interested in reading some of the many available titles:

The only philosophical novelists I can think of are Soren Kierkegaard and Albert Camus. Kiekegaard is rarely easy; Camus is rarely funny.
