Follow the Graph...
So, I understand the Frequency Response graph on the HeadRoom proto website, but if that's the only graph I go by, all SR-XX Grados have the same freq. response at around 90Hz and the SR-80 puts out less dB than the SR-60 as you go further down the Hz scale.
Obviously, I'm missing something. Oh yeah, I don't know how to read the other graphs. If anyone's up for a short tutorial, I'd be very grateful.

I think the SR60 and SR80 graphs are switched. I find the SR80 has better low bass but more treble, and if you switch the graphs then they agree. I always found that most of the Grados (SR80-325) has similar deep bass and boosted treble with the SR225 having the most treble boost, and again the graphs agree after you swap the 60 and 80.

Huy, the graphs show the relative level (or volume) of the phones at different frequencies. This gives a graphical representation of the sound of the phones. To measure this, the phones are feed a signal that contains all the frequencies at equal volume level. Then the output of the phones is measured at all the frequencies and the relative level is displayed in the graph. The vertical axis is level (volume), the horizontal axis is frequency. The louder signals are "taller" and the freq's go from bass to treble as you move from left to right. The accuracy of such a test is a subject of much argument and these graphs should only be a small consideration in choice of phones. budgie, there's something i've been meaning to ask about those graphs. how do they measure the audio output from the phones? stick a mic between them? the human ear introduces it's own spikes and dips in the frequency responce by virtue of it's shape. the outer ear's folds alter the sound as well as the ear canal. that's the reason diffuse field eq exists, to compensate. do they use a neuman head or something?
